The Giant That Defeated David

As we turn to Second Samuel, Chapter 11.

I've entitled it the Giant that Defeated David.

Hold on. It's going to be intense.

And happened at the spring of this year. This is verse one. Second Samuel 10, 11. Pardon me. Verse one.

We'll read five verses for now. It happened. Everybody say it happened. It happened in the spring of the year, at the time when kings go out to battle, that David sent Joab his servants with him and all of Israel, and they destroyed the people of Ammon and besieged Rabba. But David remained.

Say that with me. But David remained at Jerusalem. Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked out on the roof of the king's house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing. Uh oh.

And the woman was very beautiful to behold. So David sent and inquired about the woman. And someone said, is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Iliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite? And David sent messengers and took her. And she came to him.

And he lay with her where she was cleansed from her impurity. And she returned to her house and the woman conceived. And she sent and told David and said, I am with child. Oh Lord, set people free tonight. Bring revelation tonight.

Do all that you want to do. We thank you. Come on, pray in the spirit. If you have that freedom.

Jesus name, we'd be sure to give you all the praise. Amen. You may be seated. I'd encourage you to take notes. Talking about the life of David, studies in the life of David.

More verses of scripture about David than any other Old Testament character. He's about 45 years old here. We've seen a lot in the life of David, and as I've been studying it, it's greatly impacted my life. David's always encouraged me. King David, the sweet psalmist of Israel, the only one who had a heart after God.

Yet he had a heart after God. But you see this situation. A heart after God, yet he lied. He didn't obey the Word all the time. He didn't obey the prophet.

He's responsible for the death of 85 priests. On and on and on. David always would realign his life. He's a young ruddy shepherd boy from Bethlehem. He's a Christ type.

He's a Christ figure. In the Old Testament, and we just went through chapter seven not but a few services ago about the Davidic covenant. David desires. I want to build you a house. Oh God.

And God says no. Well, Nathan says, do it. And then Nathan goes back and the Lord says, that's not for me. Go tell him he can't do it, but he can pay for it. He goes back and it says, there's too much blood on your hands.

Which your son Solomon will build a house. And because he desired to do something for God like that, the Lord said, I'm going to make you a house. And he gives him a prophetic promise, it's called the Davidic covenant, that from his lineage there will be one from his family line that will remain on the throne forever. And Jesus is in the lineage of David fulfilling that prophetic word. We come to second Samuel and there are some sections that I, I did not deal with Mephibosheth, which is really one of my favorite stories in scripture.

But I am possibly going to go back and deal and treat preach from that text about Mephibosheth in 2nd Samuel 9. But I felt very strongly impressed to preach to you this message. The giant that defeated David.

It's a turning point for David. And again, he's 45. The story is a great warning. There is so much in it. It's a picture of judgment.

It's a picture of what happens when people yield to their fallen human nature. It's not exactly fun to preach from it, but it's like medicine. It'll help you. The Word of God will help you. The Word of God will change you.

The Word of God at times is like epicac. Anybody know what epicac is?

Or cod liver oil. How many of you lined up at the fridge to get your. All right, you're over 50 for sure.

Get your cod liver oil. I guess that's all in. Now, cod liver oil is fiery because here's the lesson. A fiery, passionate man of God serving God. Man after God's own heart falls.

I mean he wipes out at 45. I've seen people live for God up to their 40s and their 50s and they throw it all away for, for a few moments. That's what, that's what he does. And he repents. And we're going to look at this story.

He repents, God forgives him. But the results of the, of the sin is so broad and vast and multi generational. So this context here, the context of David and this story is a war against the ammonites. In 2nd Samuel 11, verse 1. And the springtime, when the kings go out to war, you know, why is it springtime?

Because at winter they would not fight in the winter. They would basically pause. Battles would pause during the winter time. And David had great success. He really did.

He had great success. And so now he's very successful. They're, they're, they've won all these great battles and they go out to finish and besiege Rabbah, a city. But David remained at Jerusalem. How is it that David remained at Jerusalem?

David, who is so passionate, if you lose your fire and you quit going out to battle, you. You're in trouble. You've got to stay in the cutting edge of faith, and David did not. And there's a propensity that mankind has when you get some success or you get, you get some elevation, you. You begin to.

You begin to get ahead and you're, you're beginning to rule that you can relax and rest. It's called resting on your laurels. David didn't fall because he was weak. David fell because he was disengaged. And he was not where he was supposed to be.

Fools go where angels fear to tread. And also as a believer, you need. You need to be in the right place at the right. How do you do that? Do the right thing, and David didn't.

If you get out of the battle. I'm tired of the battle. Well, better get refreshed in the Lord, because the battle's never over until it's over.

You see, great moves of God end because pastors get tired. Let me tell you, when I'm retiring, never. There is no such thing as retiring. Obviously, there's younger people going to come along and they'll be preaching and, and I'll become more senior or whatever on my role will change. But there's no do.

You stay in it. No matter what age you are, you keep the press. You keep going out at springtime, you keep binding, you keep losing, you keep giving, you keep teaching, you keep praying. You don't stop. What happens if you stop?

Well, you can end up in big trouble. And that's what happened to David. You're created. You're created to. For pursuit.

Let me say that again. You were created to be engaged in the kingdom of God. And if you back off, I mean, this is. The text is so telling. So he doesn't go to battle.

And, and you see this problem here.

He's in bed. What's he doing getting out of bed? He arose from his bed. What, what's going on?

Well, it says it's. It happened one evening. So it's evening. Did he go to bed early? Is it.

Is it the middle of the night? I don't know. It's clear enough to be able to see the beautiful Bathsheba.

Victory is not the time that you relax your guard. It's the time that you strengthen yourself. You'll notice Jesus whenever he had a big event, he prayed, fasted before the event and he fasted after. To victory is the time to. To stay on your guard.

So David saw bathsheba bathing, verse 2 through 5. His house is built probably in the highest part of the wall. They don't know though. We've walked those ruins and it's amazing. The City of David, 11 acres there in Jerusalem.

City of Zion, city of David, Jerusalem, same place, about 11, 11 acres right there. The city of David. You can go and see it today happened one evening. He arose from his bed and walked out on the roof and he saw. Listen.

Listen to the language here and see if it sounds familiar to anywhere else in scripture because I'm going to show you how to avoid getting ensnared and trapped. We're going to look at James too. I got preach real long to you. But by the grace of God, I'm going to preach strong to you and it's going to help you. I got a.

That's right. And oh my. Somewhere else it's going to help you.

David's house is probably built on the highest part of the wall. So his rooftop had a clear view of the city and. And perhaps her. Well, her. It couldn't been far.

It's not like he got out his vortex glasses and because they didn't have those, it's close enough for him to see. You know, a person bathing at a thousand yards, you might not be sure if it's a man or a woman or 2,000 yard. It had to be relatively close because he could see it was a pretty girl with his natural eye. So maybe he walked out. Springtime, maybe it was hot.

We don't know why he walked out, but he goes out, he shouldn't have been there to begin with. It's a demonic setup.

And you'll see it says that she's very beautiful to behold. So David sent. Oh no. Why did she come? Ask yourself that question.

Why did girlfriend. She's married. Well, she's the king. Okay, that's a. That could be a reason.

The king said come. You don't. You don't disobey. Maybe she Was naive. Maybe she was enamored to be able to be invited to the king.

Maybe she. Maybe he. Maybe she didn't know what he wanted to talk about. Maybe she. She don't know.

Who knows? We don't know. But she. She came. Maybe she was intimidated.

Maybe, maybe. Maybe her motive is unclear. But I mean, when the king gives a call, you're going to respond. Someone said David inquired about Bathsheba and found out it was a dollar of Iliam, one of David's 30 men. It's actually 36 men, but it's one of.

I mean, can you imagine? It was his bro. It's one of his mighty men. It's not just one of his mighty men. It's the granddaughter of one of his chief advisors.

So, I mean, the sin is. So it's. I mean, he had to step over and. And quench his conviction. He had to step over and violate his conscience on many levels.

Verse 23 of 2nd Kings 16, the advice of Atafel. He was considered an oracle of God. That's a grandfather. You see, later on doesn't work out so good with the grandfather, I think is because he's a little bitter about his granddaughter being taken by the king. How many of you know that would.

Dude.

2nd Samuel 16:23 is a scripture about at the fellow and how he was one who had inquired at the oracle of God. David knew the law, he knew the word, he knew Deuteronomy, he knew Leviticus 20 and verse 10, the man who commits adultery with another man's wife. He who commits adultery with his neighbor's wife, the adulterer. The adulterers shall be put to death. So literally, what David did, King David did.

Literally what he did is he deserved to be put to death and so did Bathsheba.

This progression, which we'll look at here in just a little bit, the progression of David's sin. I want you to look at it and underline it. David, he saw Bathsheba when Eve saw the fruit was good, when the. The sons. The.

The sons of God saw the daughters of men. Genesis there, there. There's something about looking and something about the eye gate, the saw. And he saw, then inquired about her. So that's the next step.

He asked questions seemingly harmless. Who's that girl? He shouldn't have even asked who it is. He shouldn't have looked. He definitely shouldn't have inquired.

And then he sent for her. He. There's a progression. You'll see it in James, which we're going to look at you're going to overcome lust. You're going to overcome temptation.

You're going to overcome the. The. The assignment of the enemy. Would you all close the. Close the doors to the lobby, please?

So I'm not distracted. Appreciate that. That will help me out a lot.

He sent for her so he could spend time with her. Just want to talk. She's so cute. Let's talk. And then he ends up laying with her.

So after she conceives. Now, we didn't read this, you see verses 6 through 27. He's like, oh, yeah, she's pregnant. So the king's like, I'm. This is bad, this is bad.

I gotta fix this. Got to fix it. He. His plan for fixing it does not work too well.

He calls for the. For the husband whose name is right. Calls for him. Now that's unusual. They had messengers that would go back and forth.

Not only should it be at the battle, but he. He's not there. And they send messengers about news of the battle. He knows what's going on. So he sends for.

He sends for him. So he orders Uriah to return to Jerusalem, and he does it so that Uriah, the husband of Bathsheba. I mean, the crazy things people will go through to hide their sin. And you see it in David.

He calls Uriah back and he sets him up so that he'll sleep with his wife. And then who knows whose baby it is?

So he comes back. Now, you got to know how weird that is. Verse 6. We didn't read it, but I'm reading to you now. David sent to Joab, saying, send me, Uriah, the Hittite, verse 7.

When Uriah came to him, David asked him, how's Joab? Would you help me? Would you be Uriah? Just come here, Uriah.

So Uriah shows up and the king's like, hey, how's it going? I mean, awkward. How. Why is that? Because, I mean, he's.

He's one of the mighty men, but he's. He's in battle. Everybody's, hey, I've got to go back and talk to David. He told everybody. Well, he sent, oh, wow, that's a big deal.

What, are you going to talk to King David? I don't know. He sent for me. So he comes, he's like, hey, how's it going? How's the battle?

It's a very strange question to ask somebody who you just brought back. It's a very strange question for the king to ask. He's not talking to his general. He's talking to the one who. And it's like, the battle's fine.

Battle's fine. Thanks. How's Joab? He's good. Good.

And, and, and, and I just can imagine. How's the ark? How's the Ar?

So glad you're back.

Why don't you go home and wash your wife's feet? Here, go ahead. That's what he says. Go home and wash your wife's feet. What does that even mean?

Why don't you go home and.

Wash your feet? It's a. It's. It's basically. Is that the new King James right there?

Okay. It's basically a euphemism for go home, be with your wife.

Then what. What does he do?

Go down to your house. Pardon me? Verse 8. Go down to your house and wash your feet. So Uriah departed for the king's house.

And then. And then the king doesn't just send him home. He gets Uber Eats, and he sends Uber Eats to deliver food at your house. If you don't know what that is, it's okay. He sends food.

He sends. He sends takeout to the house. But you're. You'll notice what he does. He doesn't go to the house.

But Uriah, verse 9, slept at the door of the king's house. I mean, this is an honorable guy, he said. And I mean, you. You read about. He's a man of conviction.

So he doesn't even go home to his wife. He stays at the king's house. I think when the food went to be delivered to his house, he's like, bro, I'm right here. I'm not home. Give.

Give me that. I think he. I think he got the food, and I think he ate it right there.

So the second time, Uriah at dinner with David at the palace. Verse 10 through 13. So David told. Told the saying, Uriah did not go to his house. David sent for Uriah.

Did you not come home from your journey? Why didn't you go down to your house? And Uriah said to David, the ark and Israel and Judah are dwelling in tents, and my Lord Joab and the servants of my Lord are encamped in open field. Shall I then go to my house and eat and drink and lie with my wife? As you live and as your soul lives, I will not do this thing.

Verse 12. Uriah remained at Jerusalem that day and the next day. And then David called him and he ate and drank before him, and he made him drunk. I mean, David is really a scoundrel right here. The man after God's own heart.

So not only does he steal his wife, he brings him home, tries to trick him, so he sleeps with her. She. He's such a man of conviction and honor that he won't go. He gets some meals, the king gets him drunk. So for sure now, because he's intoxicated, he's gonna get loose, lose his convictions.

Because that's what alcohol does to you. That's what intoxication does to you. That's what weed will do to you. That's what anything will do. Come on.

Intoxication will mess you up. You fight for your rights to smoke your bong. You're an idiot.

Oh, I'm just going to take a moment to just slap that one more time. Everybody I know in all the years I've been serving God that smoked weed and tried to serve God, all of them end up profoundly demonized with the craziest doctrine and end up falling away. And I don't even know if they made it to heaven. Their marriages fail, their businesses fail, and then they just lie around like a neutered dog.

I should move on, you know. Can't. I can't help myself. I can't help myself. Pray.

You pray right now. Pray. Okay.

Do you remember when, when they were bringing that whole thing to, to Wasilla and the endorsement of weed and all that? Does anybody remember that? We heard about it on. They were having a hearing at the city hall in Wasilla. So we showed up.

I just said to the church, listen, they're having this thing. I'm going, I'm going to speak my mind if you want to come. So, I don't know, a couple hundred people from Kings went down. We knew what time it was. Guess what?

We were on time. All the weed smokers were late. Can you imagine that? Can you imagine? And they, they.

There was no seats because we took up all the seats. They were mad.

I don't know. I just thought that was funny.

Where are we? Oh, David tries to get him drunk and he still doesn't. He still doesn't do it. So instead, he writes his own death sentence and he hands it to him. He writes a death sentence to him.

He. He puts the king's seal on it and he says, uriah, I want you to deliver this special note to Joab. You take this to him and it's got the king seal and he hands it to him and he literally is carrying his own death sentence back to the battle. You could take that over there.

Thank you, sir.

How wicked. He delivers the note, Joab obeys the king, puts Uriah up front. They back away, and he's killed. He murders him. You know, I want you.

I want you to see verse 14. Look at this. Verse 14.

In the morning, it happened. Oh, man, when I read that, I just thought, oh, gosh, thank God, those days are over. The days where you scheme and you plan and you're thinking, I'm gonna do this thing. I'm gonna do this thing. No, I'm gonna.

Don't do it. I was gonna get it. No, I'm gonna do it. I can't do. Oh, you're gonna be in trouble.

You get caught. No, I could not cover this thing up. And then you go to sleep. You wrestle all night. Maybe wrestle all night.

In the morning, he does it. He hands it. It is a horrible sin. And he gives a death sentence to literally one of his best warriors, political family, military family. And he serves death to this family that was faithful to him.

It is a horrible, horrible thing. And so Uriah is basically executed. Verse 16 to 17. While Joab besieged the city, he then assigned Uriah to the place where he knew that there were valiant men. Verse 17.

Some of the people and the servants of David fell. Uriah the Hittite fell also. So David marries Bathsheba, gives her time to mourn death of her husband. Verse 26. When the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah, her husband, was dead, she mourned for her husband.

And when her mourning was over, David.

Took her. Basically, she became his wife. But the thing that David had done displeased the Lord. Psalm 38 is. Seems to fit right here with the occasion of David and this sin.

Verse 1. Oh, Lord, do not rebuke me in your wrath, nor chasten me in your hot displeasure. For your arrows pierce me deeply and your hand presses me down. There is no soundness in my flesh because of your anger, nor any health in my bones because of my sin. For my iniquity have gone over.

My iniquities have gone over my head like a heavy burden, they are too heavy for me. And it goes on. Verse 5. Wounds are foul and festering because of my foolishness. I'm troubled.

I go mourning all day long.

It goes on to talk about his suffering.

I want you to go to James chapter one and verse 14. And I'm going to bring this in for a landing here.

It's an intense message. It's a heavy message. You'll be like, oh, that's never going to happen to me. Are you sure?

Because there's A lot of people that say that, and then they. They go ahead and do it. I mean, nobody wakes up one morning and says, geez, I one day want to be a prostitute. That's not how that happens. People.

The little girls and little boys don't say, I want to destroy my whole family one day. Nobody thinks that way. People don't think like that. Little boys and little girls don't think that way. James, chapter one and verse 14.

There is a progression, and I want you to learn it. I'm gonna. I'm gonna quickly highlight these things, but each one is. Read with me. But each one is tempted.

He's what? Tempted when he's drawn away. Drawn away by his own desires. And enticed. Verse 15.

Then when desire is conceived. Fascinating. It's a picture of impregnation. Then when desire is conceived, it gives birth to sin. And sin, when it's full grown, gives birth to.

To death. The first stage is being drawn away. Now, lust, this is specifically sexual lust, but there's a lot of lust. There's. There's greed, there's lust, there's.

There's anger. There's all kinds of temptation, all kinds. But it all comes to us in. In the same way, this progression being drawn away. Satan wants to.

Fleeting thoughts of lust to. To be sustained in your thinking. And when I say lust, yes, sexual lust, but clearly greed also, and anger. He wants you to have these. There's fleeting thoughts that come.

Listen, you can't help a bird flying over your head, but you can sure help it making a nest in your hair. I don't have any hair, but you all understand what I'm talking about. Fleeting thoughts. You take them captive, you cast them down, but when you. When they come in and you're like, ooh, ooh.

If you. If you. If you think too long, you're on a hook real strong. So you got to deal with that. And David did.

He allowed that thing. He was drawn away. I mean, people that rob banks.

People that rob banks do not wake up and they're like, let's rob a bank. No, no, no. They think about it. They're like a getaway car. Maybe.

Maybe Bubba Gump can help me rob the bank. I'm going to use this gun. I'm going to do this thing. Oh, no. Yes.

No. Yes. I need the money. Oh, those. They're corrupt.

The Fed, the. The. The Federal Reserve, all the corrupt. I'm gonna take their money. No, don't do it.

Yes. You're gonna go to jail. Your life oh, my God, I need to need that. I need it. And then they keep driving past the bank, and they keep looking at the bank, and then they notice, you know, that's the bank.

I want to rob that bank. They don't wake up one morning and instantly grab a gun from the gun safe and go rob a bank. There's a thought process. And the same way men are enticed, women are enticed. And it comes.

You. You have to. You have to cast down those thoughts. I got, like, one amen. A couple nods and some nervous people.

I'm trying to help you out.

Be drawn away.

The difference between, like, a momentary thought and being drawn away or captured by it. There's a difference. There's a difference. You get defiled. And then what you do with that, does it become a fantasy for you that you play over in your mind?

And, you know, it used to be that was just men that were addicted to pornography and stuff, but that is not the case anymore.

Being drawn away. Stage one, Stage two. Being enticed.

Being enticed is when you begin to fantasize you're being enticed again. Here it's lost with David. It's lust, but it can be anything, any temptation. Enticed, number three, second, third stage. And desire is conceived.

This happens when you make a decision in your. In your heart, in your mind to walk out your actions. You make a plan.

There was a time in my life before I was born again and filled with the spirit, before I was saved. I remember payday would come. And I remember when payday was coming, I knew about how much I was going to get. And I'm thinking, I can do this. I got to get gas.

Then I got to do this. Look at this thing. And then those of you that are laughing knew exactly what that meant.

And I would make this plan. And then. And then by the time the plan was done, I was left for dead. You know, I'm exaggerating a little bit, but not in every case.

That's how it works.

Desire is conceived. Wow. It's this analogy of a baby being put in a mother's womb.

If you'd like to be impregnated with evil, then think about it a lot, fantasize about it, and start taking actions. And what then happens is, is you get. You get. Basically, that's the picture is impregnation. You get something put in you that.

If you'll see there's exit signs here. These are required by the fire department and the cert team.

If there's an. If there's an evil monster outside of that door and I opened it and let it in, it is now allowed in. Some of you don't realize that when you're being drawn away and then you're enticed and then you take action, you're opening the door. We call it, we call it in deliverance ministry, we call it entry points. Some of you have had a lot of entry points and some of you have your doors wide open.

You need to close them. You need to stop as T O P. Stop, stop. Everybody say stop.

David made premeditated decisions that were wicked. One, the taking of another man's wife. Two, the murder of Uriah.

Stage four. The desire gives birth to sin.

We act out sin. We give Satan legal rights.

You know, soul sin is. And it sure is quiet tonight. Do you need some music to comfort you? Can I have some keys? Would you, would you please?

Brother Paul, it's great to see you. Just come right up the front stairs, skip the back of the, sit backstage unless you need to go get your ears or whatever. Would you just do something to help people because they just feel like they need help. Lift your hands to heaven. Messages like this are good because it will help you.

It will help you.

When you give Satan legal right, he enters and can cause lots of pain, which is really death. Sin becomes full grown. Stage 5.

Without repentance, it, it grows.

You want to get rid of that thing? It, you got to repent.

Oh, I started saying this. All sin is, is a wrong attempt at getting a desire met.

And sometimes those desires are. We can call them needs, wants.

The Lord will satisfy you. Even in a sun scorched land, the Lord will satisfy. You know something? Lust never satisfies. And the perversion in America, the perversion in the nations, you know, if you go down that road, it just starts getting worse and worse and worse because, because just normal, normal relations, I'll say, doesn't satisfy.

It brings it. It just gets dull. And then soon it just gets. They add some weirdness and the enemy gets people justifying and crazy things. I mean, it gets perverse.

It gets very perverse.

A loving relationship with your spouse and the intimacy that takes place, that's beautiful. And it's ordained by God. Come on. Somebody say yay. And if you don't have a wife, say, lord, help me right now.

If you don't have a husband, say Jesus, how. Or you're called to be single. Amen. If you're called to celibacy, may the Lord bless you. It's a fantastic calling.

I'm so glad that God called me to marry my wife. But celibacy is a holy thing. It's a beautiful thing. I know celibacy. You're never married.

You're married to the Lord. Lord. And there is no, there's no sexual relations like that. That's it.

It's beautiful. We know people have given their whole life. I, I gotta say that for me, when I got born again, sanctified, set on fire, and then I got healed. I got healed. And what happened for me, when I got totally healed, I was.

I didn't have to get married. I didn't have to have a girlfriend. I didn't have to have any of that. And that, that, that burning, that, that lust. I don't even like calling other children here.

I'm gonna shoot as high as I can because it's going to help some people. I don't even scx. I don't like using that term for what it is between a husband and wife. That's not, that's not a term that we use because that's not what that is. It's like, I don't know, that's.

We use terms like copulation. No, I'm kidding.

Lift your hands to Jesus. I just lost everybody. You're like, copy. What? Don't worry.

It's all right. Lift your hands to the Lord. Ed told me to that Chaplain Ed told me to say that. Thank you, Chaplain Ed. It's holy.

And I don't talk about it a lot, but, but if I don't, if I don't break it down for you, you'll never really know who's going to talk about it. A sex ed teacher to bring some perversity. Yeah. These things need to talk. Be talked about in church.

And we need to, we need to teach our children rightly at home. I waited, you know, the whole.

Should we talk about weed again?

We waited. I. My, my son and my daughter were raised homeschooled. We watched all their friends, we picked all their friends. Now that they're mature enough and discerning enough to pick their own friends, we picked them all and we unpicked a few.

Can I go over there else? No. How come? Cuz Father knows best. How many remember that show?

So we get to the place, we get to the point where like the change is upon Daniel. Hannah was different. Hannah at like what, 10, 9, 10 says, hey, Dad, I know how babies are made. I'm like, what she said, huh? I'm like, okay, what does that mean we're driving home from church?

I think another day or so passes. And she says, oh, dad. We said, oh, so. And so is pregnant. Praise the Lord.

And she says, oh, I know how babies are made now. That's the second time. And I said, I looked in the back seat. I said, you do? She says, yeah.

I thought, oh, God, for the love of God, Jesus help me. Jesus, help me right now. I said, okay, we get home. We get home. I said, hannah, master bedroom.

That's where we had all the big talks. So I pull up. I pull up. She. She comes in, I sit down.

I sit her down. I said, okay, tell me. She says, well, I'd rather just show you. Can I show you? I'm like, oh, God.

But, I mean, I know it's totally innocent. I'm like, okay. And she says, okay. And she takes off. She runs away, and she comes back with a stack of books.

Encyclopedia Britannica, a My Body book for, like, I don't know, for little girls, American Girl. But you know, how many remember the American Girl? All right. Anyway, Comes back to these stack of books. She's like, well, I heard you guys talking, and so I looked the word up, and she looks it up and she's like, and this is the parts of a man.

I'm like, what the heck? And. And this is a woman. And then I cross reference that with my body book because I heard that term in this other book, and I turned it down. And so I understand.

I said, whoa, it's like nine, ten years old. Too young. I thought, yeah, you've got that right. I said, are you okay? She says, it's really weird.

I said, that's right. But it won't be so weird later. It's okay. Let me pray for you, Lord Jesus. Am I Daniel not?

So Daniel was, I think, 11, 12, maybe. Yeah, it was very late and. But he's not hanging out with little perverse kids, so he's not hearing about it. And then I started hearing some things, and I saw he kind of had a glimmer in his eye at a couple little girls. And I think, gosh, we gotta.

It's time. It's time. It's time. It's time. So I take them rabbit hunting.

Figured that was a good thing to do.

I take him rabbit hunting. We go. We go up to rabbit and we both have our. He's got his little 410, and I got my. I got my gun.

And we're rabbit hunting and we put up a little. A little call for coyotes or whatever it was. I don't know, some crazy electronic thing that didn't work. I was with somebody else who runs off into the woods. Another brother from the church and didn't see him for hours later.

And he comes. It comes back like Elmer Fudd with a stack of rabbits, whatever. And we're just walking around the grounds. We're walking around. I said, okay, Daniel, I need to talk to you.

He's like, okay. I'm like, all right. I need to talk to you about girls. He's like, oh, what? So I tell him everything in.

He's like.

And then he says, okay. So it's kind of like the rooster. We had chickens. So it's like. So it's kind of like the rooster and the chickens, right?

I'm like, right? He's like, whoa. I'm like, yeah. Looking around, you have to have conversations. There's healthy, the conversations, and then there's perversity.

Don't let somebody else teach your kids about what's right and wrong. You teach them, and they'll learn it here, and they'll learn from Bodyguard. We go into. Into detail. The details are not taught in our youth group, but it is important that kids learn the right thing and learn what perversity is and learn what sin is, and learn that sex outside of marriage is wrong and adultery is wrong.

And this is what David did. Stage six. It brings forth death.

Hear this. You have to. You're going to die now. Either you die to your flesh and live the blessed life, or you choose to yield to your flesh and be cursed in death. Which one will you choose?

Don't, Don't. Don't choose death to your flesh. Quit smoking weed. Get rid of your porn. Get rid of illicit relationships.

Learn to take every thought captive. Get healed. Get delivered men, women, and live a holy life. This affected. This affected David's family for generations.

Listen, if you've fallen in this way, don't be under any condemnation. Repent, because God can do miracles. He can heal you. He can. He can heal your marriage.

He can heal your family. He can. He can break. Break the curse. And there's consequences.

There are consequences. I love what my mama said. She said, son, we need to pray for a crop failure for you. You have sown some seeds, and we need to pray right now that there's a crop failure. I'm like, okay.

She's like, lord, cause the seeds that he sowed to fail. Come on. How Many of you got some seeds. You sowed your wild oats. They're not wild either.

How many of you. How many of you did some things in the past you like? I don't want a harvest of that. I got like three honest people.

It's all of us last scripture, Galatians 6. Galatians on the screen, if you can. Thank you. You guys have done a great job. My media department, Galatians, chapter six and verse seven.

Ready? Here we go. Don't be deceived. God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows that he will reap.

Verse 8 if you can. For he who sows to his flesh will reap of the flesh corruption. But he who sows to the spirit, will of the spirit reap everlasting life. Oh, yeah, we better just do verse nine also. Let us not grow weary while doing good for induced season.

We will reap a harvest. If you don't lose heart. I'm not having a big altar call for those who are struggling with lust or stuck in pornography or anything like that. You know who you are. I want to protect people's dignity, but at the same time, you can get set free right now.

Stand up on your feet, every single person. Lift your hands to the Lord and ask God to help you right now. To be a man. To be a woman of self control. David.

This is the giant that dropped. David. I don't want to be dropped. In fact, I'm gonna say it this way. I'm not going to be dropped by any giant.

Say that. I'm not going to be dropped by any giant. I'm not letting greed get a hold of me. I'm not getting lust. Get a hold of me.

I'm not going to let anything get a hold of me. I'm not doing doing that. That is a long ago and I have divorced myself of that. I am going to be faithful. Come on, say it.

I'm going to be faithful to the Lord. I'm going to be faithful to the house of God. I'm going to be faithful to my wife. Come on, say it. Or your husband.

I'm going to be faithful. And some of you understand what it is to be in a family that got broken to pieces like that. You can be healed. Come on, lift your hands. To heaven, I pray.

Oh, God. Now a breaking of lust. A severing of the cords of the enemy. I pray Lord, set people free tonight online. That we would not yield.

We would not yield to our fallen human nature. We would not be weary and well doing. For in due time, we'll receive a harvest. We will control our eye gate. We will control our emotions.

We will be in the right place at the right time. We're going to stay in battle. Come on, tell them. We're going to stay in battle. You know, I got to say this.

One of my life messages is the four hedges of protection that come out of this text. He broke them all. And one of the main ones is he sent off all the people that would told him to shut up and sit down. Joab is not there. Joab would have said, dude, what have you lost your ever loving mind?

King David. Hey, King. Hey.

They were in a. They were in the cave of Adullam. They were. They've been together. All the people that will tell him to sit down and shut up are gone.

And all he is surrounded by is a bunch of yes men. Oh, yes. Yes, King. Oh, that's that Shiva. I'll go get her for you.

You need to have people in your life that'll tell you to zip it. Be quiet. What are you doing? What do you. Why are you doing that?

And if you begin. Watch out. You begin to distance yourself from people that'll tell you when you're jacked up. My wife's the number one that tells me. I got rebuked today.

Dr. Morocco rebuked me today. It's fantastic.

Nothing like a good swift kick in the tail. Some of you haven't had that. So you just wonder, well, you'll get the. Satan will kick you down the road. Don't do that.

Develop life. Develop relationships with people that are honest and not afraid of hurting your feelings. Now, the ones that want to hurt your feelings, you want to distance yourself from them.

I want to pray and. And if you need to slip out, I want to be sensitive to time. I want to pray for those who've had situations in their family. It doesn't have to be this. And if you respond, please, those of you that are not responding, don't you think evil of people.

You came maybe from a broken home or divorced family. I came from a divorced household. That there will never be the curse of divorce in the Bracken family again. There will never be divorce in my family. There are reasons for it.

I understand that. There will be no reasons. I will provide no reason for you to divorce me ever. I'm gonna live right. I'm gonna love God.

I am doing that. I will do that. I made a commitment to do that. How many of you can say amen? But I also understand that there's a brokenness that comes from families.

I mean, when I was like seven, when that happened to me, I broke my little heart as a seven year old, eight year old. It destroyed me and God healed me. And maybe you've been through some things. You're like, man, I want prayer over my family. I'm, I'm going to see the blessing of God go on to generation to generation.

If you want prayer over your family, you just come on up, come on up, Just come, just come, just come.

You just come. Just pile up all up in the front. You don't have to make a line or an. Anything like this. Could just compile up and talk to God with your spouse, with your, with your loved one.

Come on, lead us in prayer for marriages. Lord, we thank you so much for marriages, Lord. It was your idea, Lord. It's the foundation of a family. And we pray, oh God, for marriages in this house.

Even those that are represented up, represented up here. Lord, we ask that you would heal God. We bind demon power in the division. Lord, Spirit of divorce would come that ugly thing. We bind you now in the name of Jesus.

We cast you out and we pray, oh God, that you would bring healing, healing restoration, Lord, to those that are struggling. Yes, Lord. Lord, that people would not be ashamed to get help and to get counsel and to reveal and to expose the works of the enemy. But God, there would be healing. There would be even a revival of marriages, a revival of healing marriages, God, that people would not get divorced.

Lord, we pray that you would heal people, God. Heal family. Lord, we pray for those who have gone through divorce or that are going through divorce, whether you're a young person, your family's been through it, or people going through it now. God, we pray for your mercy. We pray for your grace.

We pray for your healing and your strength. We know there's reason for divorce, God, but we pray if at all possible, would you heal people? Set captives free today, oh God. Lord, let the testimony of this place be healed marriages and healed families. Lord, restore every single thing that the devil has tried to steal and has stolen.

In the mighty name of Jesus. We serve an eviction notice to the enemy and say, get off our families. Get off. Come on, say that. Get off our family.

Jesus name. Get out of Our we break your hold down. In the mighty name of Jesus. We close every door. Pornography.

I curse your work in operation over God's people. I break your hold off of every man and woman in the name of Jesus. Those online, those who listen at a later time. We shut the door right now. Come on.

Shut the door to pornography. Perversion. Yes. Oh, God.

Lord, thank you Jesus, for this horrible passage. That is a warning and the mercy of God that's poured out on David, which we are also recipients of your mercy. And we say thank you. You know, no matter what, no matter what you've done, no matter what, what you've gone through, repentance releases God's mercy. And I don't know what's happened to you.

I don't know what you've done or what people, others have done to you. But if you will live a lifestyle of repentance and forgiveness, the love of God, the love of God will come upon you. And what the enemy meant to steal, kill and destroy, God will restore. And God will heal and God will bless you. If you're hearing my voice right now, you've not gone too far far.

You're still, you can become, you can go too far. You can become reprobate. You know what that means? That means you can no longer hear God's voice. Your heart no longer turns towards him.

So I think I know some people like that. Well, you be very careful. God's the one that makes the judgment. In the end, you love people. You keep speaking the word, you keep modeling it.

And this, there are some people that are reprobate. They've gone too far, they've stepped over and they've been turned over to a reprobate mind. Romans says, see, you're not promised, you're not promised that he would just take you back. Every time you don't know the human heart, you get enticed, you take a little step and you just want to inquire about it. And you don't know that that would be the thing that would flip your heart.

And then you've lost it all. You wake up one day totally defeated. But if you have had that happen or you have done it in your life, God's mercy is new every morning. This is David at 45. He has like 20 something years left.

It's the worst sin of his seven years of life. And God uses him greatly afterwards. Your life's not over. I pray mercy and grace and love God upon each and every person. If you don't know Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

Give your heart to him tonight. Say that's me. Wonderful. Pray this prayer whether it be a recommitment or giving your heart to him for the first time. Pray right out loud.

Say right out loud. Say, dear Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your son Jesus to die in my place. I believe he rose again from the grave. And I ask you tonight to come into my heart and be my Lord. Be my savior.

Thank you for loving me. Thank you for hearing my prayer. Amen, Father. Thank you. Fill and touch your people again.

We declare that the curse over families our family. The curse over our family is broken by the power of the name of the blood of Jesus. We thank you for it. Jesus name. Amen.
