Pastor Daniel Bracken preaches that Jesus never intended believers to live the Christian life without the power of the Holy Spirit. Using Luke 24 and the book of Acts, he explained that after salvation, believers are called to be “endued with power from on high” so they can boldly witness, pray effectively, and live transformed lives. He highlighted how the disciples changed after Pentecost—especially Peter, who went from fearful and hiding to preaching with courage and power after being filled with the Holy Spirit.

The sermon emphasized that the Holy Spirit brings boldness, intimacy with God, spiritual strength, and freedom from dry religion. Pastor Daniel encouraged believers to hunger for God’s presence through worship, prayer, obedience, and expectancy, teaching that God still pours out His Spirit today. He challenged listeners not to settle for powerless Christianity, but to seek continual filling and transformation through the Holy Spirit.

Hi, this is Pastor Daniel Bracken. You're listening to Kings Alaska Podcast. I hope the Word encourages you and you get a touch from God that brings transformation and equips you to experience life with people, power and purpose. Thank you for joining us. Enjoy the Word.

Stand up on your feet. Turn to Luke 24, Luke 24, Matthew, Mark, Luke 24. I'm going to take it from verse 36, please, instead of 35. Thank you, media team. Appreciate you so much.

New King James tonight. Let's go. If you're ready, say Amen. Amen. Now, as he said these things, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them.

And he said them, peace to you. But they were terrified and frightened. I bet he like shows up, supposedly had seen his spirit. Verse 38. And he said to them, why are you troubled?

And why do doubts arise in your hearts? Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself handled me and see, for spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have. Verse 40. When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. But why they still did not believe?

For joy and marveled. He said to them, have you any food here? So they gave him a piece of salmon.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't salmon. Broiled fish and some honeycomb. Verse 43. And he took it and ate in their presence. Verse 44.

And he said to them, these are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which are written in the law of Moses and the prophets and the Psalms concerning me. And he opened their understanding. Say that he opened their understanding that they might comprehend the Scriptures. Oh God, may you do that tonight. May you do that here.

Verse 46. And he said to them, thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day. And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all nations. How many nations? All nations beginning at Jerusalem.

And you are witnesses of these things. Behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you. But tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you're endued with power from on high. Read verse 49 with me. Ready, set, go.

Behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you, but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you're endued with power from on high. Let's pray. Father, thank you for the grace of God, the power of God. All that you've done already is people been worshiping you and praying You've been glorified, magnified people, healed this morning and this, this evening. How you're comforting the hurting and the brokenhearted, the grieving.

How you're moving in power in our midst. We ask Holy Spirit that you would have your way, that you would move tonight in a powerful way. That you would come upon us and that it would be said of us that we would be your witnesses. Lord, we are. We are your witnesses.

Release power to do it. Power to proclaim the kingdom. Power of the Holy Spirit. Come, we thank you for it. In Jesus name, Amen.

Turn to your neighbor and say, do you have power? I do.

Turn to your other neighbor and say, have you lost weight? No, don't say that. Don't, don't say that. Don't say that. I've been in a series on David, but the process of sermon preparation and bringing you the word of the Lord is a unique process for me.

I, I'm. I'm very right brained as opposed to others who are so left brained it hurts. I'm very right brain. And God speaks to me in many different ways and I think he speaks to all of us in different ways. It's, it's knowing he's always speaking.

We're not always listening, but he's always speaking. And as I prayed I had this message on the next section of David and I, I was going through it and went and had a glorious nap. An angel visits my house, pretty sure and clubs me. And I take a nap every Sunday just to hope the spirit of God comes over. Pastor Karen and I and we just, even if it's 30 minutes or 15 minutes, it's just, it's a, it's one of the great gifts on Sunday for me.

I take, I have a whole routine. I take a nap, I get up. Well, during my time of rest, I kept hearing about the fire. Fire of the Holy Spirit. Fire of the Holy Spirit.

Fire of the Holy Spirit. And so I woke up and I got working on my David's message and I just kept hearing fire the Holy Spirit. Okay. Fire Wanted to preach the Damon thing because it's powerful and perhaps I'll get to it on Wednesday and we'll hope that you'll be a part of that. This is quite a text.

And understand that God has power for you. God has power. He does not expect you to live the Christian life without power. A lot of people lost power this winter. What an unusual winter.

I think it's over, but we don't know if we have another psych Storm coming where it drops a foot of snow. When my first couple years, it's just like it's, it's spring. Oh, now I'm just like, it might be spring. I'm not sure. God's on the throne.

The earth is turning. I know eventually it'll get warmer. We might get a foot of snow this week. I mean, I don't know. I don't.

May the Lord help us. Good news. I saw pollen coming in on my bees. That's good news. It's evident today.

Saw pollen on my bees coming in. I have a. I'm a beekeeper. During some of those storms, we, we lost power. Anybody lose power? This, this winter, you lose power?

Man, it's. It's rough. I remember growing up, I think it was 1976. It's a while ago. Some of you weren't even born yet.

But we had storms in Long Island, New York. And I remember particular, particular set of storms that came through. And we were without power for a whole week. And the house is cold, but we had a fireplace. We didn't have a wood burning stove, but we gathered everybody.

The living room. And everybody slept in the living room. We had a fireplace and we stoked that thing. I remember ice everywhere. We had no power.

And it was. It's a problem. I remember we would. Back then, we would fill the water. If there was a storm coming and you might lose power, they would fill the bathtub with water.

And it was something that you had to do because your pump wasn't going to work and you weren't going to have water. It was an issue. If you don't have power as a believer, it's a problem. The thing is, is that many people don't even know that they. That there is power.

So they just live in this realm of white knuckling it, hoping that it's going to be all right. Now, God's merciful and kind, but the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the power of the Holy Spirit is key for your life and God. So much so that Jesus talked to them about it here and in many other places. We're going to look at that tonight. Look at the text.

Jesus appeared to the disciples. You saw right there, verse 42. He. He gets a piece of Olympias or shocked. He gets a piece of broiled fish and honeycomb.

He opened their minds. I had you repeat that. And he opened their minds to understand the scriptures about what the scriptures say about the Messiah. Now he's not talking about the New Testament. Was talking to my son today.

And he was telling me about this particular text. He said, dad, he opened their minds to the Scriptures. I said, I don't. He said, there's no New Testament, Dad. I said, I know.

He said, so what do they open their minds to? He's like, the Old Testament, dad. I'm like, I think I might have said that before, son. He's preaching to me. No, that's a good thing.

I, I didn't belittle him. It's a wonderful revelation. What is Jesus teaching? What did he open their minds to? He did not open their minds to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, because there is no Matthew, Mark and Luke and John.

So what do you open their minds to? He opened their minds to the revelation found in the Old Testament. The Old Testament is amazing. Amazing. And if you don't study the Old Testament, you won't really fully understand the New.

And it's just so powerful. Get in the Word, it'll change you. So we open their mind. Come on, ask God to open your mind. Open our minds to understand the Scriptures.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word. So he opens our minds. I mean, what a Bible study that was. What a life group that was.

And he gives them a vision of what they're going to be doing. Look at verse 47.

As it is written. Well, verse 46. Thus it is written, Thus is necessary that Christ to suffer and rise from the dead on the third day. Verse 47. And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all nations.

He's telling them, this is what you're going to do. He opens their mind and they're like, whoa, the Christ you're in the Messiah, resurrected. It's the resurrected Jesus. Well, he says, yeah, and you're going to go to the nations, you're going to preach repentance and remission of sins. He's giving them a vision.

You know what we're supposed to do? Preach repentance and remission of sins found only in his blood. And he goes on to say, beginning at Jerusalem, Verse 49, behold, I send the promise of the Father, but you're to tarry in the city of Jerusalem. The key verse Here is verse 49. Behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you, but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you're endued with power from on high.

That is the key verse. I'm going to send you what the Father promised. Lift a hand to heaven and say, oh, God, I want what you've promised. Amen. You say, well, I already have it.

You know what I've found out? No man has reached up to receive all that he has to offer. And the spirit of God is not just a one time infilling like in 1975 when you were at the, or 1969 when you're at the, the charismatic outpouring at Notre Dame. As a Catholic, did you know that Catholics are experiencing a fresh move of the spirit? Did anybody see that?

You know what else is happening? Not only the Catholics. There I, I, I read it somewhere. They, this CO redemptrix, they've officially backed away from the CO redemptics. Do you know what that is?

Is Mary as a CO Redeemer. Mary is not the co Redeemer. There's only one Redeemer. His name is. There's only one Redeemer.

So but they had this craziness that they, they decided to, I guess go back to the word. And there is an outpouring had taken place in Catholic churches across America, across the world. You know what else is happening? No, what? I'll tell you.

There's these tents, 10 revivals happening all over America. I want to get a tent. We had one. Pastor Kirsten, can you find. We had one.

We had one. Pastor Kirsten. It's dead. It was the original tent. It's gone.

But we still have the post. Let's get another one.

Wouldn't that be amazing to just pop up tents all over the state and have outpourings. Wouldn't that be amazing? You know, it's a lot of work. Thank God for this building to be able to show up. You don't have to set up chairs.

How many of you are part of a church? We had to set up chairs every Sunday. Had to break them down every Sunday. How to move out into a van or into a trailer. Raise your hand if you were a part of something like that.

That's a great experience. It's one I don't want to have again. But there are, there are times when, when you just got to go out and get them. Not everybody's coming in here. We got to reach them.

And so there's these revivals, these tents breaking out all over and again. Once again, it's Gen Z that's attending those things. Sawdust on the ground, full old school tent revivals across, especially in the middle part of America. And they're, and, and people are just popping them up. And it's not even like, you know, professional preachers and pastors.

It's just people like I feel like if I get a tent, I set it up and I just talk about Jesus, then people are going to come. And that's exactly what's happening. It is amazing.

Verse 49. I'm going to send you what the Father promised. So he's doing that. He's pouring out a spirit. Stay in the city.

Turn to Acts chapter one. Stay in the city till you've been clothed with power.

Endued with power is another way to say it. Niv says, clothed with power, endued with power from on high. Acts chapter one and verse four. I'm teaching you here for a moment.

Acts chapter one and verse four dot and being assembled together with them, he commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of. Does that sound familiar? Yeah, because that's a fulfillment of what he said in Luke 4. 24. It's now Acts chapter 1, verse 4, verse 5.

Commanded them not to depart Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which he said, you have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now. Baptismal is. It's a submersion. It's a submersion.

So the picture is. And I've said it before, but it's. It's been a number of months since I've said it this way. How many of you make cucumbers, Pickles in the summer? I love pickles.

Do you feel led to give Pastor Karen a jar. She will receive it from you. We should make our own pickles this year, Pastor Karen. But pickles start with cucumbers. A cucumber is like a non spirit filled Christian.

If you take a cucumber and you drop it in a vat of solution and I guess, I don't know, is there vinegar and. And peppercorns and garlic and other fine ingredients and you can't make a cuke. You can't make a pickle overnight. It. How long does it take to make a pickle?

Anybody know?

Mary, do you know how long it takes to make a pickle? Ask Margaret. Where's Margaret? Margaret. You make pickles, Pastor Carson?

It's gotta take. It's gotta take like 60 days, 30 plus. Right? Let's talk to brother pickle maker. Come on.

How long does it take to make a pickle? There's. There's different solutions. Oh my gosh. Just give us a short answer.

Very good. It takes a long time.

Different. It depends on the solution. Yeah, there's different solutions. Some of them are Faster than others. Some of them can be done in a day.

That's the one we're going to have tonight.

Six weeks, says chad. Six weeks. Okay.

What happens to a cucumber when it's in the solution, whether it's a day or six weeks, depending upon the solution, is that solution gets on the cucumber, obviously. It gets baptized, it gets wet. But it permeates through the entire cucumber. Changing the cucumber to a pickle, that is a picture of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. A beautiful picture because it's totally been changed.

It's no longer a cuke.

Go to Acts chapter one and verse eight.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. And you shall be my witnesses. It appears in the equation here that you need power to be a witness. The kind of witness that he's looking for has power. You'll receive power, and you shall be my witnesses to.

To me in Jerusalem, in Judea, Samaria, the ends of the earth. Go to Acts chapter two. You see this fulfillment of Luke 24, the first part of Acts. You see fulfillment in Acts chapter 2, in verse 1. When the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord, in one place.

And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing, mighty wind, and filled the whole house where they were sitting. That's the solution. Bunch of cucumbers sitting there.

There appeared to them divided tongues of fire. One sat on each of them, and they were all pickled. They're all filled. Everybody say they were all filled. They're all filled with the Holy.

I'm getting hungry. They're all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. Now, what's amazing to me is the transformation that takes place because you have Peter, who ran away from a little girl at a fire when he was accused of being with Jesus. Peter comes out after the pickling, and he preaches until thousands of people get saved. What is the difference with Peter?

Peter is a pickle now. He was a cuke, but now he's a pickle. Something changed to give him power. Something changed to give him unction. Something changed to give him courage.

Courage, strength. Listen, they're in the upper room. They're afraid of being. They're afraid of being crucified themselves. They're hiding out.

50 days after the. After the Passover, 50 days after the resurrection, Jesus has ascended. 10 days before that. They're now in the upper room, and they're Waiting. And they're praying.

And I believe they're fasting according to Joel 2. They're fasting the Joel too fast. Come before me. Rend your heart, not your garment. Come before me with.

With fasting and prayer, and it'll come to pass afterward. Joel 2 and verse 25. And I'll pour out my spirit upon all flesh. Because when he comes out. And he's now a pickle, when he comes out, he's been changed by the power of the Holy Spirit.

He's no longer afraid. Crucify me if you want, but this is it. This is the deal. I've been changed. He.

He's real. I mean, he comes out and he preaches with his boldness. Why? Because he's been transformed. He's got power.

The power is turned on.

Go to Acts 8, Acts 8, verse 14, New International Version. I do believe now. When the apostles were in Jerusalem, heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them. Verse 15. Who, when they had come down, pray for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. Prayed for them that they might receive the.

Well, hold on a second.

What in Sam Hill's going on right here? The Word. Did they receive? I thought they received the Word of God. That's what this says.

That what it says, Dr. Capo. It says they received the Word of God. What does that mean? I mean, you go and read further and study this out. Simon, who's a sorcerer, also believed.

So Simon's a believer and he's. He's a sorcerer. He's a. He's a local false prophet, if you will. They thought actually the guy had so many miracles, signs and wonders.

They taught actually he was the great power of God. That's what sex says. And so here the Word is preached. They receive the Word. The apostles come down to check out the new extension, and they went to lay hands on them and pray for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit.

So receiving the Holy Spirit is different than actually just receiving the Word or being born again. And if you don't believe me yet, I'm gonna stick a fork in it just a little bit further here with a few more scriptures.

Then they laid hands on him, verse 17, that they might receive the Holy Spirit. Acts 9. These are the. The main texts that are used to show that the baptism of power, the baptism of fire, the baptism of the Spirit is available for New Testament believers. And the initial evidence is praying in tongues.

I got one. Amen. Apparently, I'm see the Lord. You're you're totally right. This is definitely a message that needs to be preached.

They're not. Amen. He's like, well, you haven't taught them well. I'm like, okay, well, I'm trying. God.

God wants to fill you. God. God wants to fill you. This is not. This is not something that.

Not salvation. You can go to heaven without being. Receiving the baptism of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit comes into you when you believe. I'm not saying that's not true.

That is true. But there's a separate work here, an outpouring of the spirit. The baptism spirit. The pickling. Well, I don't really need that.

No, you really do.

Acts 9.

And then Ananias went his way and entered the house. And laying hands on him, he said, brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, sent me that you might receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit. Now just bounce. Watch the bouncing ball. So the apostle Paul is the great scholar and.

And leading zeal. I mean, filled with zeal, persecuting the church because he thought there were a false or false teaching, a schism. He wanted to start stomp it out for God. He knew. He knew the Pentateuch.

He had memorized Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, numbers, and Deuteronomy. He was trained by Gabil. He was. Had the highest level of training. The man knew the Word better than anyone here.

Old Testament knew it better than anybody. And he's living his life like on fire for God. So, I mean, he's on fire, but he doesn't have the whole picture. He thinks that Jesus is. Doesn't know that Jesus is the Messiah.

So he's on the road to Damascus with letters from the high priest, from the letters of authorization to go persecut. I mean, this guy is a serious dude in Judaism. So he's on his way, and the Lord appears to him, the light shines around about him. He falls to the ground and he hears a voice that says, saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? And he's like, who are you?

He says, I'm Jesus, whom you're persecuting. So when you persecute, you speak evil against the church. You're speaking evil against Jesus. I just wanted to take. That's not this.

Not what I'm preaching, but it is intact there. I'm Jesus, whom you're. Whom you're persecuting. I bet you Saul got so saved right then. Oh, good Lord.

I'm sorry. Oh, I repent. You're the Messiah. Believe me, the whole thing came together with him right there. Right there on the road.

Poof. Born again. How many of you would believe that? That's what happened. He got born again.

And then he says that you're going to be my chosen vessel. And I'm. I'm gonna bring you to your people. I'm gonna send you the Gentiles. You're gonna turn them from the power of Satan to the power of.

To the power of God. And I'm going to show you how much you must suffer for my name's sake. I mean, quite a calling. Then he goes led to.

Whatever that city is called that I can't remember right now. I'm Damascus. Thank you, Pastor Karen goes to Damascus, and there's this believer, his name and Ananias. And we never hear from him again. You only see him one time.

In Scripture. God speaks to Ananias while he's just worshiping the Lord. He's enjoying himself. And God comes and speaks to him and says the same thing to him that he says to him. Saul, who's later becomes Paul.

Paul is his Greek name. Saul is his Hebrew name. This is when Saul got saved. Later became Paul, says the same thing to him that. That he told Saul and Ananias in verse 17, went his way, entered the house, laying his hands on him, and said, brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Immediately there fell from his eyes something as scales. And he received his sight at once. And he arose and was baptized. He was baptized in water. Baptized in water.

But I believe he got the baptism of the Holy Spirit, too. It's inferred. It's inferred in Acts 8, too. It doesn't actually say they spoke with other tongues, but the baptism of the Spirit is something other than what was taking place. And if you go back to Acts 8.

Are we. Are we. Are we tracking tonight? You go back to Acts 8 and you see what Philip was doing. He's healing the sick.

He's setting the captives free. The local warlock gets saved. He gets born again. And it's just amazing. And they send word, I think, to the apostles.

The apostles show up and they're like, whoa, Move of God. What? What? Jesus started at the well is now continued in Samaria. Wow.

God saving people. Oh, they need the Holy Ghost. So they start laying hands on people. And the warlock says, dude, what's that? And, you know, he gets in trouble for Trying to be a warlock and manipulate by offering money for the Holy Spirit because he's bound.

So we don't know exactly. Doesn't say exactly there that they were baptized. They said they were baptized in the Spirit, but it doesn't say they're praying in tongues. But it's some other miracle rather than healing and some other sign of wonder. It was something that took place that he hadn't seen before.

Same thing here. Go to Acts 10.

Paul says, I pray in tongues more than you all. In Corinthians. He says that. Acts chapter 10, verse 44, while Peter was still speaking. So Peter, let me back up, give you context.

Acts 10:44. These are the main texts that you should underline and share with others about the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues. It's important. It's not the biggest, strongest gift, but it's a gift. I want all of them.

And when you go to. When you. At Christmas time, you go underneath the tree, if you have that pagan symbol in your house, I mean, who's going to leave a gift unwrapped?

Oh, this one's for Mom Karen. Do you want it? Oh, no.

A. Yes. You want. Everybody say, I want all the gifts. Yeah, that's good.

Acts 10. Okay, so Peter. Peter is praying and he sees a sheet let down. And in the sheet is crawfish, budin, all kinds of Cajun food. I'm kidding.

All kinds of forbidden food that you're not allowed to eat. Ham, hocks, bacon, All the forbidden food for a Jew. And the Lord says to him, take and eat. He says, oh, no, I don't eat any of that. I'm not defiled.

He says, don't come. Call unclean what I call clean. And so at that, God blesses pigs. Okay, I'm just kidding.

Don't freak out.

He's then invited to go to the Gentile's house. And he never would have been able to go and go in had he had not had that encounter. And he goes into the Gentile's house. We pick it up in verse 44. Peter's preaching to them in the G. He's peting to.

He's preaching to the Gentiles. And Peter, while he's speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon those who heard the Word and those of the circumcision. Listen closely. Who believed were astonished as many as came with Peter because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also, for they heard them speak with. With what tongues and magnify God.

It doesn't say.

Because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out and everyone's hair stood on end. That is not what it says.

That's not what it says. Some people like the baptism of the Spirit of your hair. My, oh, my hair. Standing at it. That's nice.

I don't really have any hair to know what that was like.

Your hair standing on end is a. Maybe a phenomena. Goosebumps, goose pimples, whatever you want to call it. Chicken skin. But there's no chicken skin in scripture now, right, Pastor Gerson?

And yay, you will have chicken skin. No, that's not what it says. It says you'll receive power. The Holy Spirit will come upon you and you will pray in a heavenly language or the Holy Spirit, or in. In tongues.

So do you have to be so intense about it? I'm trying to rattle the cage of those of you who've dismissed it to say it's not that big a deal as long as you just love God to make it to heaven. I would say, yes, absolutely. But if you leave this particular gift under the tree, he who hung on a tree became a curse for you. It'd be, you leave this gift, then you will lack power.

There's tongues with interpretation, which is prophecy, and tongues, which is a prayer language. Not everybody has tongues with the. And then the gift of interpretation, I think they can come at separate times. In other words, a message in tongues can come, and then interpretation can come from someone else. And then I've also gotten the interpretation of my own tongue that was a message or prophetic word.

Then I have my prayer language. It's. It's. It's familiar and it's. It changes.

It all alters, it grows. But it's a prayer language. It's the Holy Spirit praying in economy with my spirit ontologically operating as one. But. But really they're separate.

Your spirit is not the Holy Spirit, but the Holy Spirit will pray through your spirit. And that's what the baptism of the Spirit is. Raise your hand if you're getting something tonight. Okay. And I fear that I've not spent as much time as I needed to on this in recent.

In recent months. So I thought I'd just obey the Lord. It's always good to obey God and hit the ball here about the baptism of the Holy Spirit because you need it. You need to be filled with the Holy Spirit. You need the power.

Some of you are connected, but the lights aren't on.

I remember a Story about this lady, I don't know, is when electricity was new in Ireland and they ran electric out to this old mama's church house, and she put a light in.

And over the course of the next couple of months, the electric company doesn't see much usage, so they're kind of wondering what's going on. So they send somebody out. They knock on the lady's door, hello, ma'. Am. We've noticed that you're not using much electricity.

And she says, oh, no, I'm using li. Well, we're not. You're not using very much, though. She says, oh, no, I use just enough to turn it on so I can light my lantern.

The power of the Holy Spirit is more. So you could just turn. Turn on the lantern. It's to change the world. It's to be a witness.

Can you say amen?

So the Holy Spirit fell on them, and he heard them praying in tongues.

Wow. Acts 11, verse 15. As I began to speak. Y' all there? Acts 11, verse 15.

As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them as upon us at the beginning. Well, what is it? What? What? What?

In other words, he's referring back to Acts chapter two. So the whole. The same Holy Spirit that fell in Acts chapter two. He's saying, as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them as in the beginning. That I've remembered the word of the Lord.

And now he said, john baptized with water, but you will be baptized of the Holy Spirit. Verse 17. If, therefore, God gave them the same gift as he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus, who was I to withstand God? Go to Acts 19.

So the power of the Holy Spirit is available for you. It's the. It's a theological argument that you must. You must settle. Gotta settle it.

Is it optional? Yeah. I mean, if you don't want the gift, then you can leave it underneath the tree. But as for me, I'm gonna get the gift. Pastor Karen doesn't open her gift.

I'm gonna open it for. And take it.

But I know Pastor Karen, she loves gifts. We all love gifts. Lift your hands to Jesus. Say, holy Spirit, fill me tonight.

May we be changed. Be changed. We started Primrose. You were there. Tammy.

Lanaville. You were there. You. God used you to open the door. That whole story is amazing.

A lot of people don't know it, so I'll share it. I'm driving on Lucille street headed to our 1701 North Lucille street property. I'm on the phone with my mother. I don't know. It's how long we've been there.

It's got to be 14 years.

Well, I was there 17 years ago then, because I was there before you, along with Sister Tammy. Appreciate your faithfulness to the Lord. You have a good service today. I bet you did.

So we were driving. I was driving past, was talking to my mom, and my mom says, son, you need to get in the nursing homes. Get. These people need God. I'm like, yeah, I know.

She says, no, they've got one foot in the world and another one on a banana peel. It's exactly what she said. You need to get in there and give them the gospel. While I'm driving by. Primrose had just been finished.

I don't know if it was being built and just finished or it was right at that point. It was new, right? Brand new. So we came back, we had morning prayer. When I shared that, hey, the people down the road, down the street, have a foot on a banana peel.

Says my mom, we got to get in there and preach the gospel up there. I said something. We prayed. And you had a cleaning company, right?

So you went to work for Primrose. And while she was there, she negotiated with the manager to allow us to come and do a service. And so I. They said, well, we, you know, I want to meet your pastor. And I'm a paraphrase system.

It's how I remember it. So I'm not lying. How many of you know if you share things like you remember it, that's not lying. If you're missing things, then, you know, charge it to my head and not my heart. Like that time I out fished you and got a giant fish.

You remember that? Anyway, Where were we? Where were we?

Yes. Come on. I just got touched by the Lord. Pretend fishing. Lift your hands to Jesus.

Winter's over. Hallelujah.

What was I talking about? Right? So we went and you were there in that meeting, Right? We went to the meeting. I don't know who else went there.

I know you were there. I was there. I think there was somebody else. We went, we sat down with the manager, and they said, okay, and what time you want to do it? We worked all that out.

And then he got this troubled look. You're from the church up the street. I'm like, yes.

I said, I saw this trouble. I said, are you concerned that we're going to swing from the chandeliers? I think that's what I said, right? He says, yeah, yeah, concerned about that. You guys are freaks up there.

We heard About. No, he didn't say that, but he said yes. I said, well, I'll tell you what, we won't do that. We'll just preach the gospel because we have all kinds of denominations there, and we'll just allow God to be God, and we'll. We'll.

We'll. We'll keep it chill. You remember that first service? I remember it also. We had a former Baptist pastor there.

We said, had some other people. There was, I don't know, maybe five people. Five people. Maybe four or five people from Primrose. The first service.

I did it. Just remember, okay, all right. We give God all the credit. Amen. It wouldn't even exist if you did.

God didn't raise you up. It is the truth. And as I'm preaching, I feel the fire of the Holy Spirit. And so I'm, like, praying in tongues under my voice, not in the microphone. And I look, and it's just like power all over these older people, and they're shaking and weeping.

They're crying. Am I right? Is that exactly what happened? And God touched them. I thought they were going to get up and start swinging from the chandeliers themselves.

It wasn't anything that I pushed or promoted. Just preach the word and the power of God fell on them. Come on, lift your hands to Jesus. You need power. You need power.

It's not about a charismatic preacher or teacher. It's about the power of the Holy Spirit, and you need power.

Could have keys, please, would you, Heidi? Minister? Heidi. Oh, it was like an angel or something. How'd you do that?

That was fast. Good. Acts 19.

And it happened verse one, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. Come on, take your Bibles. Underline this highlighted on your device, however you want to do it. Acts 19.

So he finds some disciples. So he goes around, he heads up into Ephesus, and he sees some disciples. Now, how did he know they're disciples? We have no idea. Were looking disciplish.

No, I mean, they were doing something that made them think that they're believers. So are they praying? Maybe? Or. I mean, I don't know.

And he says to all the disciples, so you imagine I come, I'm the apostle Paul, and I meet all of you guys. I'm like, hey, what's up? You're like, hey, bro. Like, hey, what's going on? Oh, we're just, you know, praying.

I mean, I don't know what they're doing. How does he know that? He thinks they're believers. There's something different about them that indicates to him that they're believers. So he asks, so have you received the Holy Spirit since you first believed?

And they're like, the what?

The what? What kind of a question is that? Listen, don't go around Wasilla and Palmer and Houston. Don't go around Alaska this week and meet people from other churches and says, hey, you received the Holy Spirit since you first believe, unless the Lord's leading. But, like, don't be rude.

But that's what it is. I mean, you imagine going to somebody from another church or meeting somebody for the first time here, and you ask them, hey, you received the Holy Spirit since you first believed. Well, why wouldn't I want to do that? Well, you know, maybe, maybe, maybe we can do that in a gracious way. But I mean, why would, why would the Apostle Paul ask believers in if it's received the Holy Spirit if you got the Holy Spirit when you got born again?

Because he thinks they're born again. He says they're believers, but we find out actually they're not. They're believers in John the Baptist. They're Baptists. Okay, I'm kidding.

I'm kidding. I love the Baptist. Please. Baptists have sent out more missionaries and tremendous Baptist churches. I love the body of Christ and I mean that with all my heart.

But he. He asked him, did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believe? So when He's. So when they said, then they said to him, look at, look back at your text, verse 2. We've not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.

So they're like, what, what are you talking about? What is the Holy Spirit? They don't even know. Look, look with me in the text, verse three. And he said to them, into what then?

When you baptized, they said, into John's baptism, which is so profound because if you look where Ephesus is in relation to Ben Al Rubah, by the, by the, by the Jordan where he, where he baptized, his ministry without tick tock, without Instagram, without Facebook, without any kind of modern platform, none of that word of mouth, his ministry is like, impacted like the known world. I mean, it's amazing. They're in Ephesus. That's how far reaching John the Baptist ministry was. And Paul says in verse 4, John indeed baptized with the baptism of repentance, Saying to the people, they should believe on him who came after him, that is on Christ.

So, you know, maybe they didn't get that. You know what I preach Messages. Sometimes people only hear a part of it. So there they. I don't know what kind of meeting you all are having over here in Ephesus.

Maybe you're all just repenting. Lord, forgive us. Oh God, forgive us. You're just doing the John the Baptist thing. Lord, forgive us.

We're a bunch of rank sinners. Lord. Lord, forgive us. They're having a repentance meeting. I mean, I don't know.

It's. It's a mystery to me how he thinks. They're believers. They didn't hear the other part, which is don't just repent. It's believe on the one who.

Jesus, who John the Baptist was a forerunner for. Believe on him. Believe on Jesus, John the Baptist's cousin.

And so they hear that. They hear, oh, it's about Jesus.

Who would come after him. That is on Christ. Verse five. Everybody say verse five. And when they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

What does that mean? That means they got born again and they got baptized in water. They got born again and they got baptized in water.

Then what happened? Oh, something else happened. Oh yeah, Something else that you need, perhaps. That we need continually. And Paul laid his hands on them.

The Holy Spirit came on them. And they spoke with tongues and prophesied. I love how it says, and in verse 7, now the men were about 12 in all. God wants to put power on you. He wants to pickle the likes of the cucumbers in this room.

And some of you need to be re pickled because you're just gone dry.

Fill my cup, Lord. Fill my cup. You lost your cup. You need God to give you a cup and fill you. You need the power of the Holy Spirit.

There is no way that this preacher right here would have made it. I would not have made it.

I would, I wouldn't. I couldn't. I couldn't do something that didn't have power. Because of how the enemy attacked our family all those years ago. I. I couldn't do something that just was some intellectual ascent.

As many believers are like Gnostics. They're trying to grow in God's word. But they got no fire, they got no zeal, they got no passion. So they're all discipline based. I'm all for being disciplined.

I'm a disciplined man myself. I do think that we should read the Word and study the Word and rightly divide the word. A worker that need not be ashamed. I believe that. But you need the fire.

You need the power. I had somebody say to me and, and they meant it. Well, they were leaving the service today and they said, wow. First time here, they said, wow, you must have had a lot of sugar before you preach. That's the only way he said.

I was like, yeah, actually, no, no sugar. It's not that I didn't want any. I just didn't have any. No sugar today.

But he. He saw a passion. He saw something that's different, which he equated to sugar. I said, no, that's the Holy Spirit. He said, wow.

I said, wow. Praise God. You need power from on high. You're connected because you're born again. And if you're not, will remedy that in just a moment.

But you need the power of the Holy Spirit. So how do I receive that? Well, I think the first thing is obey. You're going to make note, take notes, write this down. Obey, obey, receive Jesus.

That's the first thing. Be born again. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Believe on the one who John the Baptist prophesied, the forerunner, the forerunner of Christ. Believe on Jesus.

You must be born again. You must be saved. It's not enough to have to have all kinds of knowledge, like the apostle Paul, he had all of that. But he didn't see Jesus as the Messiah until the Lord revealed himself to him. And yet he had to have Ananias come and lay hands on him.

The scriptures that we looked at, you see people receiving Jesus and you see them being filled with the Spirit afterwards. Afterwards, over and over and over. In the instances that we looked at, there were times where people laid hands on them and they received the baptism of the Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. And then there's instances where there's just preaching and the power fell. So which is it?

Both.

And there's instances in Acts 9 where it's inferred. It's inferred. So Simon Magus and the different ones of Samaria. Is that Acts 9 right? I got that right.

Any scholars in here?

Acts 8. Pardon me? Acts 9 is Ananias. Acts 8. It's inferred.

It doesn't say that they laid hands on them, they received the Holy Spirit and they spoke in other tongues. But it infers it, because if you look, you'll see people were healed, demons are cast out, all kinds of signs and wonders and miracles, circles. The local warlock gets saved and then the apostles come. Somebody said, well, there. There has to be apostles.

And no, there doesn't have to be apostles. First of all, the guy that's laying hands on him, Philip, the one who started the revival? He was a waiter. He worked in the cafe. Philip worked in the cafe and went out to go pick up what Jesus had done in Samaria.

So the power of the Holy Spirit. Obey. Receive Jesus. Come on, someone say, obey. Obey.

Secondly, expect it. Have an expectancy. There was something about when we got raised up in this church year, all those years ago, there was an expectancy every service. I mean, we weren't late for service because we just couldn't wait to get here. And we would just come.

I'm like, we're in our 20s. Hurry up. I mean, there was, like, stress. Good job. We're going to be late.

You're going to miss the first worship song. And Pastor Chris like, let's go. How you had to hustle to get a seat.

And all those years ago, we were the last to leave. How come, Pastor? Oh, glory of the Lord. Presence of God washing over us, speaking to us and pulling out the venom that the enemy so injected into our souls. Power of the Holy Spirit.

The word being preached through one of the best expository preachers in the world, still to this day, my pastor, Dr. Barranco. We would take notes. Pastor Karen and I would take notes. It would pass out notes like I've done for so many years. And I've.

I've paused for a minute. I might go back. I don't know. And we have all those notes. So Pastor Karen would be.

And I would be sitting next to each other. We'd be taking notes, and then I would lean over and put a little heart on her notes, and she'd lean over and put a little heart on mine. Beautiful. We loved coming. Couldn't wait to come.

Oh, and the guests that would come through. And God's power then to go home and fall asleep. I would fall asleep reading my Bible with my face falling into my Bible. The smell of the pages.

Does anybody know what I'm talking about? You're like, have you lost your mind? Yes. Yes, I have the mind of Christ. The other mind I had needed to go.

I've been filled. I've been filled with heaven. I've heard the sound of innumerable. I've experienced the glory of God, the power of God and measure. I know there's more, but I don't ever want to be reduced to a church that just has a service in a 1 hour and 15 minute, hour and a half, and we go home and there's no fire.

There's no power to heal the sick and set the captives free. There's no power. Power to heal your marriage. That's not God, that's not biblical. That is an unbiblical form of Christianity.

You don't have to white knuckle it and hope that one day you're going to make it. You know what white knuckling is? This is white knuckling it.

You wake up in the morning and enjoy his presence. She flows through you. And you wake up and begin to move forward in the plan of God and have an intimacy with him that out of that intimacy would come a fruitfulness. That is the plan. God's spirit praying through you.

We could go to Ephesians. You go to different places where you're praying the perfect will of God. How many of you need prayer for things? You need answers to prayer. Raise your hand.

That's everyone. That's every honest person would need answers to prayer. Sometimes we don't know what we ought to have to pray for. We don't know how to pray for it. We don't know how to pray.

You know what? I do and I don't know how to pray. I pray in my heavenly language. I pray in the spirit. You say, well, that's kind of embarrassing.

No, it isn't. It isn't. There's a right place for it. I mean, you could be out there, the post office and act like a fruitcake. I don't think that helps the cause of Christ.

Some people that are just spiritual nut jobs, I don't know what a nut job is, but you don't want to be it.

Yet at the same time, I've had people say, oh, they're so heavenly minded, they're no earthly good. Well, maybe you're so earthly good that you're maybe so earthly minded. You're no heavenly good. How about that? Is that possible?

Yes. Clock that.

Lift your hands to Jesus.

Have an expectancy. Come on, just tell him, oh, I want to get touched by you tonight.

Oh, my heart's just longing. My heart's longing for those days, Lord. They weren't good old days, but it. But we need you now like that. But how do we create that, that kind of a culture of fire and power and miracles and expectancy?

I've preached to you the word of God. Enter in. Enter in. Crossover. Have an expectancy.

See, you can't fulfill the plan of God by yourself. It takes God to live for God. It takes God to live for God. Said it takes God. It takes God to live for God.

That's why he said, wait in Jerusalem until you're endued with power. Wait. Wait in the city. Wait, Terry. Wait.

Wait for me to fill you with power. Don't go out without power. Don't be. You can't be. Be my witnesses without power is really what he's saying.

You need power. You need unction. You need dunamis. You need the dynamite. Resurrection, power.

Working on the inside, transforming the lives of God on the outside. That I will go with you, and I will lead you, and I will guide you, and you'll lay hands on the sick and you'll see them recover. You will speak with new tongues. You will speak with new tongues. Your tongues.

And nothing by any means will harm you. It is a part of the equation that you cannot leave out. Don't leave it underneath the tree. Don't reject it because you don't understand it. Oh, my, my.

How many times and how many altar calls did I answer? I heard it preached unapologetic, unapologetically, like I'm preaching to you right now. And then they would give altar calls back in that day with Dr. Morocco, a much younger man than he is today. And I would come to the front and be like, I'm convinced that I don't have it. So I don't know, but I want it.

I want everything you have. And we'd come to the front and we cry out. And I remember service after service, nothing.

Oh, and I would wrestle with rejection. I'd come to the front. I mean, like, nothing. I'm like, lord, I know you love me. He doesn't love you.

If you did, he filled with your spirit. I know you let me know. He doesn't love you. I don't. All kinds of warfare going on.

Then I would talk to a pastor or leadership. But I've. I've answered like 10 of those altar calls. But, like, nothing happened. He said, get hungrier.

In the book of Deuteronomy, he says, I led you into the wilderness. I caused you to hunger, that you would cry out to me, that I would feed you with manna. That is a profound verse. See, some of you take the weight, the delay as rejection. He has not rejected you.

He's making you hungry. He's making you hungry. He's making you thirsty. Turn off your blasted device, put away your Facebook gossip page and get into the Word and begin to call on his name and cry out. How about instead of just watching another season of swamp People people, How about put away the swamp people show and have a prayer meeting.

Put on some worship in the background and begin to sing and Worship him. That's the thing. The second thing you, you write down, number one, obey. Number two, have expectancy. Number three, praise God.

Everybody say praise God. Praise God. Have a time of praise in your home. Have a time where you're lifting up your voice, where you're worshiping with your kids. Well, they don't want to.

Yeah, of course. They want to be on Xbox 780 or whatever the new thing is. I mean, of course.

You know why? Why? Because there's a fascination with entertainment and entertainment has been used by the devil to rob people from the real thing. That'll satisfy. Oh, on the day of the Lord, I heard a voice and a voice that said, come up higher.

A voice saying, come up higher. And going to heaven is far better than Xbox360. Far better. But because there hasn't been those who've paid a price and yearned and longed for and parents said, lead, put your, put your device away. All you kids are loving me right now.

You have to be like a religious, ramming it down your kids throats. Model it, muddle it. My, I was talking to my daughter this past week. She said, dad, I want to thank you for not making us do ministry. I said, well, shoot, I should have.

So I thought to myself, I thought I did. She said, no, dad, you were, you led us. You led Danny and I, you showed us and there was an invitation and there was times where, you know, we had to do stuff. But then as I got older, I just was wrestling with different things. And you, you somehow had a sensitivity to let me, to let me just work it out and thank you for not ramming it down my throat.

You said, there's so many helicopter parents. You know what that is?

You're not going anywhere.

You're mine.

Pastor Karen's whispering to me, be gentle, be gentle.

You want to raise kids that love the church. You want to raise kids that love God. You want to raise kids that are not religious and drive. You want to raise them full of zeal and passion and, and if you don't have that, how could your kids ever have it? Well, they can go to kids camp and get it, but we're to cultivate that in our own homes.

Fourthly, have hands laid on you. Have hands laid on you. It's not always a recipe for the infilling of the Holy Spirit, but it certainly is one of them. So we might as well do all of it. I'm preaching right now.

You could get filled, filled with the spirit right now. As these words are going forth you could get filled with the Spirit right now. Right now. Be filled to the holies with the Holy Spirit. The same spirit.

Be filled. Just as in Acts, chapter two. Be filled, be pickled tonight. Be filled to overflowing. Be set free from every bondage.

Be liberated from a mind that's contrary to God's word. Word. Be liberated from a carnal mind that's an enmity with God. Be liberated. Be liberated from your bondage.

Be liberated from the habits that don't bring forth life. Be liberated from dead Pharisaical religion and be filled to overflowing. Be filled with the spirit tonight. Those online, those here. Be filled with the fire.

With the baptism of fire. Be filled with the Holy Ghost.

Be filled.

Lastly, let the Holy Spirit speak through you in tongues. What do you mean, let the Holy Spirit. I've been doing this a long time and I've. I've seen people that want to be filled with the spirit, but there's no way they're going to open their mouth.

How are you going to speak unless you open your mouth? There's a participation. God's not going to grab your tongue, go like this. That's not what happens. And whatever you do, don't let anybody tell you, here's how you do it.

This is how it is. Lift your hands. They lift their hands and say, she drove a Honda. Go ahead and say it. She drove a Honda to Hana.

Johanna. Okay, say it fast. Out. She drove a Honda to Honda. She drove a Honda.

No, that's weird. That's weird that. I think that's demonic. That's manipulation. Nobody's gonna be.

Don't let anybody try to teach you what to say. That is so weird. Everybody say that, bruh. That's weird. Say it.

It's weird. Totally weird. One of the most unusual ones I heard is Pastor Vince, probably online right now. Be healed, Pastor Vince, in Jesus name. Be healed of all symptoms of the stroke that you had.

Be set free. Free down the left side of your body. Be delivered. Be healed. Even launched back into the vineyard here, back in ministry.

We miss you. We need you. Be healed. Be healed. Let the power of God come upon him right now.

Let the power of God come upon Minister Ava. Pastor Vince, in the name of Jesus. Be healed. In Jesus name. There's no distance in the spirit.

Be healed. In Jesus name. Watching him get filled with the Holy Ghost, hearing his story, he says he was so jealous. Everybody at the church was getting filled with the spirit and he was a life group leader. I don't know how they made him a life group leader without perceiving the Spirit because we don't do that.

He must somehow slip through the crack.

He's up on a mountain walking around, going, lord, I want that. I don't have it. All the people in my life group are getting filled with the Spirit, and I don't have it. And he just starts walking around, said, oh, I love you, I love you, I love you. I love you, God, I love you.

And all of a sudden, he got his first word in tongues.

That was it.

He. It was this tick. He called it a tick. He said it was the most powerful tick he'd ever heard in his whole life.

And that developed into other words, that the Spirit gave him utterance for Joseph Garlington, a great preacher, great man of God. His wife. I've shared this story hundreds of times. When she got filled with the Spirit, all she said was, oop, Pastor laid hands on her. She's like.

He's like, praise the Lord. There's no right way if you don't open your mouth and participate. It's. It's out of your belly. Out of your what?

Out of your what? The Greek word is koa. Everybody say koilea. Boy, you preached good the other night.

Out of your what? Out of your belly, out of your koilea. It's your innermost being. Out of your. Not out of your head will flow rivers.

Ain't no rivers coming out of your head. There's no rivers coming out of your head, mind. Rivers come out of your spirit. The Holy Spirit will flow rivers of living water through you, through your innermost being. Out of your belly, out of your innermost being, not out of your head.

Some of you are intellectual Christians. You need the fire. You need the power. Come on, lift your hands to Jesus.

Well, I hope you were encouraged by God's word. Thank you. Thank you again for listening to Kings Alaska Podcast. God bless you. For more great content, go to kcalaska.com and may God's face shine upon you and give you peace.
