Dealing With Pain and Mistreatment Part 2

Go to Psalm 31 and we might have that on the screen. It was a part of that, which I going to read to you. Psalm 31. And it's interesting to me. Psalm 31 if you can find it.

Psalm 31 and verse 5. It's interesting because this is a scripture. This is a scripture that Jesus quoted. Now think about this for a second. Jesus in the lineage of David.

Jesus the king of Kings. Jesus walking the earth for 33 and a half years, casting out devils, healing the sick, yet people did not recognize him. And he's abused by. By Saul. Of course I'm not.

It's not Saul. I'm just trying to tie it together. The Pharisees, Sadducees, the goodness sees the wooden. The wooden cease. Psalm 31.

I'm buying time like Pastor Alex did. Psalm 31, verse 5. So he quotes the same scripture. There it is. Psalm 31, verse 5.

This is a psalm of David. And they believe really around the Same period of 1st Samuel 24. Into your hand I commit my. My spirit into your hand. That's a scripture that Jesus quoted.

It's very similar. In fact, David is a type and shadow of the Messiah. So as David says that into your. I don't know what's going on. You anointed me.

You called me to be the next king. They're trying to kill me. 3000 soldiers are looking for him. And he says, I, I like. Into your hands I commit my spirit like this whole thing's yours.

I just wanted to be with the sheep and play my little harp. You called me. It's a great revelation. And it's the very scripture that Jesus said. Into your hands I commit my spirit.

As he's being hung on a cross and he didn't do anything wrong. Go to verse 15 of the same Psalm. Psalm 15. Psalm 31, verse 15. This is still review.

So.

My times are in your hand. Say that my times are in your hand. Deliver me from the hand of my enemies and from those who persecute me. My times. My times.

Is it at this time that you restore the kingdom, Lord? And he says, it's not for you to know the times and seasons, but you'll be endued with power. There are moments in your life where, yes, you commit your Spirit to him. And then time. Is this the time, man?

I am found that I'm based. I have patience. I'm. I'm claiming them right now. I have patience, but there's certain things I want now.

I wanted to happen now. I wanted to be in this building, at this place, in this ministry. 15 years ago, easy. No, no. Of course we wouldn't have been able to handle it maybe, I mean, I don't know, but God knows.

Rebuked by the Lord in the middle of the night on a Saturday night. As I was saying, oh, I finally got my first. Many years ago, and I woke up to the spirit of God saying, so you finally got your first house? I'm like, yeah. And he says it again, so you finally got your first house.

At 40 something years old, you finally got your first house. I'm like, yeah, son. Do you think I could have done that faster? Yes. Do you trust me?

I'm like, totally. He said, are you, Are you all right with you having your first house? Right? I mean, yes. Okay.

Yeah. It's good. You trust my timing. I trust your timing. It's quite a thing to trust his leadership, to trust his timing.

And so that's written by David during this exact time. I want to look at one more thing that's very, very important. Talked about vengeance in Romans 12.

Go to 2nd Corinthians, chapter 4.

Second Corinthians, chapter 4. Let me just give this to you. I'm going to move on to 1st Samuel 24, and I'm not going to go long. It's just, I think we're going to 10 o' clock tonight, so.

First person that gets it. Do you got that? When I say Second Corinthians, chapter 4, verse 10. Thank you. From the.

Look at this beautiful NIV, verse 10.

This is a theme in Second Corinthians on how to increase in the anointing, increasing God's power. Why are you saying this? Because if you respond rightly in the midst of mistreatment, you deal with it right. You get more power from God now and later. Now and in eternity.

Are you all there? Second Corinthians, chapter four. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of. So that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.

There's something about understanding that momentary light affliction is working for us a far exceeding weight of glory. So when you're going through difficulty. Thank you, Pastor. When you're going through difficulty, understand that the life of Jesus will be Met. What is the life of Jesus?

It's resurrection power. The life of Jesus is resurrection power. So the life of Jesus working on. Come on, don't waste a good trial. Don't waste a good persecution.

Don't waste a good rejection. Waste it. Let it work in you to produce the life of Jesus. Life of Jesus. Power of the Holy Spirit.

When you see people have gone through great suffering and difficulty, that when they respond right, they're not bitter, they're not angry, they're more anointed by God. And that text that says, momentary light affliction is working for us a far exceeding weight of glory now and in the age to come. Age to come. What is the age to come? That's not this age, it's eternity.

And in eternity, you who were born again. And if you're not, we can remedy that here in just a bit. Those of you online, you enter into eternity. And you, you, you have a job. You have a glorified body and you'll have a job.

You don't play a harp with a little diaper and wings, flying around with pixie dust that you throw everywhere. There's actually an assignment in the millennial reign. Millennial means a thousand. The thousand year rule and reign. You're going to be in it.

You're going to be judging nations and angels and stuff. So he's. Some of you just looking at me like, what? I've found, honestly, that most people are biblically illiterate. They have no idea what the word says, no idea about eschatology.

That should not be so in the house of God. So, so study. I'm teaching. This is me teaching. I'm spitting and yelling a little bit, but I'm trying to help you lift your hands to Jesus and say, oh, I'm never going to think of a problem the same way.

Come on, say it. Oh, I'm never going to think of a problem the same. Say it again. I can't hear you. Oh, I'm never.

Quit texting. Say it again. Ready? Oh, I'm never going to think of a problem the same way problems are springboards to move you into promotion from God if it'll respond right. But if you belly ache and take matters into your own hands, and the Lord will take his hands off of it, and vengeance, vengeance won't be his, it'll be yours.

You'll turn yourself inside out like a corkscrew from hell. You'll end up all bitter and all angry without result and no promotion from God and less unction, less anointing less res power, less resurrection power now and demotion later.

All right, I hope I got through.

Hallelujah. That's Second Corinthians, light affliction. Second Corinthians 4, verse 17.

So we all get saved the same way, but our responses in life determine turn to turn to first Corinthians 15. And then, and then by the grace of God, I'm going to get to 1st Samuel 24. But here's the thing about us. I. I'm not going to stay some rote thing where I just have to stay line upon line. I believe online upon line.

I believe precept upon precept. Somebody said, does the word take preeminence? Absolutely. Listen closely, read my white lips. Absolutely, positively no.

The spirit takes preeminence, not violating the word. The word's very important. It's crucial we preach the word. Amen. But the Holy Spirit can step on a part of my messenger release power to set you and your the captives free.

And if you're not aware of that, then you can stay in your little pre prepared message pastor that you spent 10 hours on. And you don't want to waste the other eight hours of your study when God steps on the first part of it. It's spirit filled preaching. It's very, very different than just going through a text and then moving on to the next line and the next line, the next line. Because where there's spirit, spirit, there's life.

Where the letter of the Lord kills, but where the Holy Spirit is allowed to be Lord, there's life, there's freedom. Come on, lift your hands to Jesus. Oh, thank you God. Thank you for freedom. Thank you for liberty.

Someone's being set free from a grumbling, bitter spirit and you're realizing, my God, I can turn this nightmare into promotion. I just gotta change my attitude. Come on, you haven't suffered to the point of shedding blood, have you? Go ahead, see if you're bleeding right now. Have you suffered to the point of shedding blood?

Have you resisted to the point of shedding blood? Is anybody trying to burn you at the stake right now? No.

Come on, say it. No.

First Corinthians, Corinthians 15.

And I, I do feel led to read this to you. Here we go. First Corinthians 15, verse 41. Listen closely now. What I'm about to read to you is something that's not taught in churches all across the land.

But it is absolutely a revelation and it ought to motivate you more. Power of God. Motivates me. Does that motivate anybody else? A greater anointing, greater intimacy with God.

So the way that I respond to the problem, the way that I respond to the trial, the way that I respond to the mistreatment, the way that I respond to the. To Saul trying to pin me to a wall with javelins, running around from cave from pillar to post, even though I'm anointed to be the next king, the way that I respond to that is going to release God's power in me now, according to Rome, according to the Bible.

And then it's more of God's power now, but it's also more later. Watch this. Are you all there? First Corinthians 15, verse 41. The sun has its greatness.

The moon has its greatness. This is a new living version. Stars have their greatness. One star is different from another in greatness. Verse 42.

It is the same. It's the what? It's the same with people who are raised from the dead.

The body will be turned back to dust when it is put in the. In a grave. When the body is raised from the grave, it will never die. What is that saying? It is saying that there is an elevation that comes from the way that you live your life now.

It makes. Please listen to me. Every moment of your life is. Is counts. Every moment.

It counts when you turn the other cheek or when you run out of cheeks and you keep turning, it counts. And actually God sees it and he'll release his power now, he'll release his power later, and you get promoted, you get. There's elevation. I don't understand that. I don't either.

But it's clear in Scripture. And I. I heard one person say, I think that's being closer to the throne. I don't really know, but. But clearly in scripture, some suffer loss. But you're still in heaven.

How is that? I don't know. All I know is I. I want everything he's got for me. Come on, lift your hand if you want everything he's got for you. Yeah.

So respond in the midst of the mistreatment, the difficulty and the pain. Respond right. Respond rightly because it counts. The judgment seat of Christ. You're not going to stand there with your mama.

God bless her. God. God rest her soul. Or God bless your mom. God bless your grandma.

She ain't gonna be next to you. You're gonna be all by yourself in your spiritual birthday suit, standing before God, having to give an account for your life of all of your words and how you lived. And I don't understand that either, because we think in terms of judgment. Like, how could you do that? You a little dirt bag believer?

You just go to the back corner of heaven. I mean, that's not the way it is because there's no tears. But the place of judgment is to be my seat. It's a. It's a picture of acknowledgment.

It's a picture of God honoring what you've done. And it's not like you get to walk around with your giant trophy. Hey, everybody, I totally turned all my cheeks and I got this trophy right here. That's not the way it is. So you can, like, brag.

That's not how it is. I don't really understand it, but it's clear.

That's that part of the sermon you told me to do right there. Did it work? It was Karen's idea. Let's go to First Samuel, because all of this applies to David now. First Samuel 24.

Aren't you glad you came to church? We have five minutes left in the service, according to that. But since I'm the boss, I'm not going to look at it at all. To 8:15. I'm going to go.

Hit me with 15 minutes. Hit me. Kill that thing as you go. You're going to become another man under the unction of the Spirit of God. I'm going to reconnect you with some old friends, and I'm going to bring some new ones into your life.

John, John, my beloved. And I'm going to use you powerfully. It's not going to be like in times before. Even though it was powerful. It's going to be totally different.

You're unusual and you carry your fresh oil from heaven. I'm going to use you. Don't strive for acceptance from anybody. Just be that unusual. John, the beloved that I made you.

And watch and see what I'll do. Miracles, signs and wonders. First Samuel, chapter 24. Now it happened. Everybody stand up on your feet.

Come on, stand up. You've been sitting a long time.

Now it happened that when Saul had returned from following the Philistines, that it was told to him, take note, David is in the wilderness of and Getty, verse two. Then Saul took 3,000 chosen men. I mean, 3,000 for one guy. Of course, there's 400, 600 men with him from all of Israel and went to seek David and his men and the rocks of the wild goats. Which rocks of the wild goats is.

And Getty again. So he came to the sheepfold by the road where there was a. A cave. A what? A cave.

And Saul went in and attended to his needs. He did what? Attended to his needs.

We'll define that in a minute. His men were staying in the recesses of the cave, but David's men were staying in the recesses of the cave. Then the men of David said to him, this is a day. This is a day. Shank him.

Now his men say to him, that's the Bracken version, it says. And he says, on that day, where am I? This is the day that the Lord has said to you, behold, I will deliver your enemy into your hand. It's this prophecy. The Lord said to you, behold, I will deliver your enemy into your hand that you may do to him as seems good to you.

And David arose secretly and cut off the corner of Saul's robe. Verse 5. Now, it happened afterward that David's heart troubled him because he had cut Saul's robe. Let's stop there. You may be seated.

Father, move in power. Go back to verse one on the screen, if you would. Happen that David. That happened that Saul returned from following the Philistines. It was.

Told him David's staying. So he has secret service out there. He's got spies out there, and they're telling him, bro, we found him. David, it's been discovered. He's in.

And Getty, which. And Getty we've been to. It's full of caves, all kinds of caves there. Verse 2. Then Saul took 3,000 men, Israel, wild goats.

Verse 3. And Getty means wild goats. So he came to the sheepfold there, and he goes into the cave he had. Goes into the one cave. If you've been to En Gedi, there are hundreds of caves.

He goes into the one cave where David is to attend to his needs. Does anybody want to take a guess at that? They say, Theologians say, to put it in modern vernacular, he goes to take a leak. He goes to relieve himself and. And attend his needs.

Also means that, like, he lied down and just rested and maybe took his robe off. And all the while you ever walked into a dark cave? Can you imagine if they're in the back of the cave and. And he's walking. He's walking in.

Can you imagine? David's men are like, dude, who said it's Saul? And then they quote this. This is a prophetic word. The Lord said to you, this is the day.

This is a day. This is a day that the Lord has made. That the Lord has made. I shake him. Shake him.

Shake him now and we won't have to run anymore. And you'll be there. Just.

No. I mean, what else would his men be saying?

What would you say? The Lord has delivered Saul into my hands. I am the next king. All his men say, kill him. This is a prophetic word.

We don't see this prophetic word anywhere else in scripture unless it relates to the Philistines in previous chapter. But they're quoting this is the day of which the Lord said to you. They're quoting something that God said to David. But we don't find this correlating anywhere else. It could be a parallel to what the Lord said about the Philistines earlier.

But they're using it. This is head. I mean, they're hugging each other quietly. There's the king. All he has to do is kill him and he becomes the next king of Israel.

That's all to shank him.

It reminds me of. It reminds me of Gibbia and Joshua. They come and they. They fool Joshua with their molded bread and their torn wineskins. And they're like, make a covenant with us.

And he makes a covenant with them. And then they head off back to the Gibeonites, head back to Gibeah there and all of the five kings of the. Of the Canaan's land attack them because they're a stench in the nostrils of the kings of Canaan's land. And word comes to Joshua, we're being attacked. Do something.

Help your covenant brothers. All Joshua had to be like, go tomorrow. And they had been totally wiped out. But he doesn't. He keeps his word.

He keeps his word and he marches all night on Gibeah. This is in Joshua 9.

David has this walk with God where he's going to honor God and he's going to honor God's anointed. Even though he's demonized, he knows that God could establish him as the next king instantaneously. He knows that Saul could drop to of a heart attack. He knows that God can do anything at any time. And yet here he does.

He brings him and. And his. His bros are like, kill him. And David doesn't. But what he does do is he goes and he cuts the hem of his robe.

And he's grieved that he does it. He sneaks up, he pulls out a knife and he cuts off a hem of his robe. Now it could be that he cut off the tassels of his robe. You look in Deuteronomy, leaders would wear these tassels representing the law. It was a picture of him, of Saul being cut off from God's promises, from the Word and all that.

Reading a little bit into it, we don't know for certain because it doesn't say. But he cuts off the corner of his robe. It is clear that the corner of the robe had these tassels that represented the Torah.

And David is grieved. Look at verse five. It happened after David's heart. He was grieved and troubled him because he had cut Saul's robe. Verse 6.

And the Med sent to him the Lord. Then he said to his men, the Lord forbid that I should do this, saying to my master, the Lord's anointed to stretch out my hand. See, this is the thing about David. You want to be. You want to be a man after God's own heart.

You want to be like David. Raise your hand if you want to be like David. I want to be like him. Except for the issue with Bathsheba. Can I get an amen?

Then? You're gonna go through Saul experiences. You're gonna go through where you could put your hands on something and make it your time. And David, didn't he trust constantly. He's cut, he blows it.

But he constantly brings his life back to God. I trust you. My times are in your hands. Psalm 31, which we read, Lord's anointed. Stretch out your hand against him.

Seeing easy. Anointed of the Lord. So David restrained. Verse 7. David restrained his servants with these words.

It did not allow them to rise against Saul. And Saul got up from the cave and went his way. Verse 8. And David arose also and went out of the cave. So you understand what's happening.

He goes in, he relieves himself. We're not 100% sure what that is, but he's clearly dangerous, very vulnerable. David doesn't take things into his own hand. You know, I want to say this about that. When you know that God called you, when you know that God has chosen you, when you know, then you don't have to try to strive to do anything.

And I remember years ago, really looking at what God had called us to do at kings here in Alaska. 8, 24. I'll probably close with this looking what God called us to do here in Alaska. And I thought to myself, there has got to be a better candidate than me. And I. I'm like, I. I don't have these certain gifts.

I don't have these certain gifts. Like, seriously, Lord, really, why don't you bring the real leader that's going to change the whole state. And I had that discussion with God and I'm. And. And honestly, I'm be fine with it.

It's fine. Look, bring him. I'm not going to be some. I'm not. I'm not going to be an absolute.

I'm not. I'm not going to be Lord, if you want me to do this. And like, you have to confirm that because I think I brought it as far as I can with the gifts that you gave me. That's where I got. It was years ago.

I went to the prophetic conference. I'll never forget it. I'm like, definitely somebody else. Who is it? It's probably pastor Alex or something.

No, I'm. I'm thinking things like, it's somebody else, it's somebody else. And I'm happy to have it be somebody else. I walk into this environment and prophet Jim Lefun there, who is a powerful prophet, he points his finger at me. We're not even in the first session.

There is no session walking. Hey, prophet Lafoon, you are his choice. He chose you. He picked you. Quit saying who else is it because it's you.

I was like, ah, you know what that did for me? It gave me great confidence and peace that God can take someone like me with the little itty bitty gifts that I have. And I don't have a whole bunch of other gifts, but he chose me anyway. And God can breathe on someone and anoint them and put fire on them. Put them a gift of leader.

Shoot. You could come in this place brain damaged. You could come in here. Dane Bramaged, which apparently they told me I was pastor Morocco. One of my.

One of my staff came brain damaged. I didn't have no idea who that was until I finally asked him, who was it? He says, it's you.

I'm like, I wasn't brain damaged. And then some. Some other pastor who was listening to our conversation, he tries us. Oh, yeah, you were Bracken. Totally brain damaged.

He could take your life and raise you up and give you a set of brains. Come on. Somebody say praise the Lord. When you're God's choice, when he chooses you, when he appoints you. John 15.

When he chooses you and appoints you and selects you, when he does that, then you don't have to strive to make yourself king. He'll make you king on his own timing. And he's working something on the inside of you. He's fashioning things. He's molding you.

He's knocking off one piece of clay and adding another. And his hands are applying in all the cave experiences and all the difficulty of the Sauls and the Jezebel and the Ahabs and all the stuff you go through. If God called you, he will bring it to pass. He will bring it. He'll bring it to pass.

If God said it, he'll do it. And that settles it. That's just how it is. And it gives you great confidence. It gives you confidence to not shank the king.

Lift your hands.

What a great service.

Hallelujah. Forgive us for where we were shanking people to get ahead. Oh, you know, that's you. Go ahead and repent.

You know what a backstabber is? It's a backbiter that misplaced his knife.

I chose you.

I chose you. I appointed you. I selected you. Yes.

I chose you.

I appointed you. I selected you. Yes, I did. I don't make mistakes, says the Lord. It'll make mistakes.

We do. He doesn't.

I put my oil on you. I brought you out of bondage. I set you free.

I chose you. Don't strive. Get rid of ambition for the kingdom. Don't strive. Don't get yourself in a place where you have to shove yourself in the gift makes way for the giver.

Be shoving people all the time. Before you know it, you'll be nicknamed Shovey.

Really? Thank God for that.

Shovey was a name of the next door neighbor's kid that used to push everybody. And I think Chris named him Shovey. Our next door neighbor. He's constantly pushing people. Is that your name?

In the spirit? That's not the name God wants to give you. He doesn't want to give you the name. God doesn't give the name Shovey, but he's trying to get you away from the ambition to try to drive and make it happen or set the record straight. Yeah, you're gonna have people that don't like you.

You're gonna have people that don't think you're the one. You're gonna have people that think all kinds of things. Who gives a flip? Who cares? If you.

If your ways please the Lord, he'll make even your enemies to be at peace with you, and he will elevate you. And David somehow knew that. He's like, I don't want to violate this thing with God. And yet he did. He cut the corner, was grieved by that and repented.

Oh, in the next few verses, which I'm not going to go into because I'm out of time, is this beautiful appeal how Saul's like, you're trying to kill.

And David's like, no, that's not what's happening. And David makes this appeal to his king. His father in law makes us appeal. And it is a beautiful example of how to make an appeal to an elder, how to make an appeal to someone who's over you. It's amazing.

The next chapter with Abigail is another beautiful example. Abigail, Lift your hands to Jesus.
