Pursue, Overtake, and Recover

In this powerful message from Studies in the Life of David, we encounter one of David’s darkest moments—loss, grief, and overwhelming pressure at Ziklag.

Everything was gone.

Hope seemed lost.

And even his own men turned against him.

But in the middle of it all, David made a defining choice: he strengthened himself in the Lord.

This message will teach you how to respond in seasons of loss, how to hear God in the middle of chaos, and how obedience unlocks breakthrough. When you pursue God, stand on His Word, and refuse to quit—you will see His promise fulfilled:

Pursue. Overtake. Recover all.

No matter what you’ve lost, God is able to restore it.

Hi, this is Pastor Daniel Bracken. You're listening to Kings Alaska Podcast. I hope the Word encourages you and you get a touch from God that brings transformation and equips you to experience life with people, power, and purpose. Thank you for joining us. Enjoy the Word.

Stand with me. First Samuel, chapter 30. It's on the screen as well. New King James. Are you ready?

On your marks, get set. Not that it's a race or anything, but here we go. Now, it happened when David and his men came to Ziklag on the third day. But he say third day, third day that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag attacked Ziklag and burned it with fire. Now, remember who's there.

His whole family and all the men's families. They had taken captive. The women and those who were there was small and great. They did not kill anyone, but they carried them away and they went their way. Verse 3.

So David and his men came to the city, and there it was burned with fire. And their wives, their sons and their daughters had been taken captive. Then David and the people who were with him lifted up their voices and wept until they had no more power to weep. Has anybody ever done that? That is real sorrow, real grief.

You get dehydrated because you've shed so many tears and you can't cry anymore. You just leave, lie there heaving. It's a horrible place. Grief and sorrow. No more power to weep.

Verse 5. And David's two wives, Nabigale, the widow Nabal, the caramelite, they were taken captive. I skipped those names because I can't pronounce them. Verse 6. David was greatly distressed.

How distressed? Greatly distressed. For all the people spoke of stoning him because the soul of the people was grieved. Every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.

Say that. But David strengthened himself and the Lord his God.

Let's pray. Father, move in power. Jesus name. Amen. You may be seated.

I'm prayed up. No sense getting prayed up while you get in the pulpit. I already did that. Lord, bless your word. Change our lives.

So David and his men return, and is it not enough to see everyone's gone? They don't know that. We read in the text that they didn't kill anybody, but we don't know that. We. We really.

They really don't know. And they weep until they have no more strength. And then what happens is common people want to blame somebody. In this case, it really kind of is David's fault. They know he's been lying.

He actually received a prophetic word to stay in Judah, and he didn't obey. So you can go study that. He gets his prophetic word, don't leave, don't leave Israel. He. But he does.

God is working things in him and he, he does. He disobeys a prophetic word, he disobeys a command of God, and now he's. And maybe that opened the door for the destruction. I mean, I, I, I don't know. Because when you disobey God, you can open a door for the enemy to whoop up on you, bust open a can of whooping.

Some of you think you could just do whatever you want to. Well, that's not true. That's not true. You can't do whatever you want to. We've been purchased with a price as a New Testament believer.

So they return and they weep till they have no more strength, and then they want to kill him. How would you like it if you were David? You want to talk about despair? Family gone, sons are gone. Everybody's family's gone.

Sons are gone. There's no hope. I mean, his power. Amalekites are one of the most wicked people. Wicked, wicked, wicked people.

Wicked, torturing. They were one of the most wicked enemies that Israel had.

They weep till they have no more strength, and now they want to kill him. And what does the text say? But David strengthened himself in the Lord, his God. Everybody say that David strengthened himself. I don't know what you've been through in your life.

I don't. You know, maybe you've lost some things. I've lost some things. I feel like I've lost time. I feel like I've lost opportunities.

I'm not down on it because I've strengthened myself and the Lord already. Let me ask you, do you know how to do that? Do you know how to strengthen yourself in God? Do you know how to grab hold of the proverbial horns of the altar as a New Testament believer? Do you know how to touch the hem of his garment?

Do you. When the chips are down and there's no hope, do you know how to. Do you know how to touch and touch God and receive strength from him? Because there's times when you can't reach your pastor, your life group leader. There's times when you can't reach your prayer partner.

There's times when you're all alone. There are Gethsemane moments. By the way, Gethsemane means oil press. And there's times when God's power is allowed for things to happen. You're in this difficulty and it's a press.

Some of you have lemon juice coming out and not oil. And when you're pressed, allow it to work in you. I don't like difficulties. I don't like problems. Oh, but I love what they do for me.

They sharpen me. They push me to the Lord. They desperation will move you to touch the hem of his garment. If you could cultivate an ongoing desperation by revelation. Let me say that again.

If you can cultivate desperation by revelation, what do you mean? You see, if you have a revelation of hell, I mean, where's Noel? No, grab me years ago, grab me by my lapel in the other building. And he shook me like. Like only he could, as an older man do.

A younger man shook me and said, hell's real. Hell's real. I'm like, yeah, like, relax. No, no, hell. Like he had a revelation.

Hell, the more he's. He didn't let up until, like, I, like, got it. I mean, I know that, but, you know, there's different levels of revelation. If you have a revelation, then, then. Then you won't cast off restraint without revelation.

You cast people cast off restraint. There is no widespread revelation in 1st Samuel chapter one. And so people did whatever they want, whatever is right in their own eyes. And if you have a revelation of who you are and a revelation of who he is and a revelation of why you're here, that will produce in you a fire and a passion. I was talking to my son and this to me, dad, why do people not have passion for God?

I had somebody say to me, man, you're. You're like, you got passion. I used to be dead. I was broken and lost, and he redeemed me. I'm not angry.

I'm just intense. Lift your hands to Jesus. You get a revelation of who you are. You get a revelation of who he is, how he's transformed you, what he saved you from. Oh, my mama, who's online right now being healed in the name of Jesus, she said this to me, son, the longer you're in Christ, the more you're going to realize what he saved you from.

Mom, that is absolutely, emphatically the truth. And if you don't have a revelation of what he saved you from, then you won't have a real joy, you won't have a real passion. Your salvation. Listen, a real salvation knows what you got saved from. You know that Jesus preached on hell more than most things.

Yeah.

David lost here and these men Lost. And when you lose things, you go through difficulty, sorrow and grief and disappointment. What do you do? What is your response? I'll tell you what I've learned.

I've learned to strengthen myself and the Lord, my God. I've learned to. I've learned to lift my hands and sing a new song. I've learned to just stay in that place or maybe get on my knees. I've got a lot of different postures.

It's just a internal desperation. My wife can tell you testimonies when things were problems with the kids or there was some sickness or something was happening and it was dark. It was. It was a scary moment. And she can tell you what happens for us.

Something shifts. There's some. Something new comes on us. And I'm like, Lord. He's like, yes.

I'm like, okay, what are we doing here? He's like, here's what you're doing. Bam, bam, bam. Do you know how to do that? Oh, you're a pastor.

No, that has nothing to do with being a pastor. It's everything to do with being a believer. And you have to learn how to strengthen yourself. And if you don't know how to do it and you run to go smoke weed instead. Oh, God, I just can't take it.

I can't take it. I'm gonna get high. You're an idiot. Don't do that. But I'm sorry, Pastor Karen's.

Here I go. Jesus, that's not wise. Stop smoking weed and go into the throne room. Stop drinking. Stop.

Stop doing things just to sedate yourself. And that can be video games. Shoot. It could be church you're serving. I mean, you could.

You could. You could be a servoholic, and you never allow God to touch your heart. Oh, I'm preaching better than you're. Amen. And in here, workaholic.

How about that? You just get so busy. You just work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work. Never look up. Never deal with it.

Constantly, you know, trying to stuff your emotions, you know, My dog found a new home this week, And I was in a meeting when the dog went to the new house. He picked her up and went to a. A vet. A vet who had just lost her dog. And my dog is now going to be hiking every day of his life, and it's going to have a better life.

Yeah.

So as the dog was leaving. I'm in a meeting. I could have. You know, it was a zoom meeting. I could have.

It was muted, but I. I could have just walked away and Grabbed the dog and be like, I'm done again. Cooper, Cooper, not. Thanks. Hey, I made a choice. I walked out there, dogs leaving.

I thought, you know something? I don't need that. Dog's not dead. Dog's gonna go, have a good life.

And I walked away. Went and got something to eat.

I walked away and made a choice. I'm not gonna grieve. Over the eight years this amazing dog and. And. And some moments that were not so amazing has gone off to a new home.

Listen, you can learn to control your emotions, and yet there's also a time to weep, and there's a time to cry. And I'm a crier. I cry, I'll weep. Pastor Karen did all the crying for us with the dog.

Learn to strengthen yourself in. In God. Don't go to the frigerator. Don't go to Pastor Frigidaire. Don't go to the icebox.

For all of you that are over 70, don't go gorge yourself on caffeine and sugar.

Draw near to God through prayer. How do you do that? Through prayer, through reading the Word, through worship. You want to write some things down, you can write those down. Through prayer, reading the Word, through worship, through fellowship, David strengthened himself in God.

Now, we don't know exactly how he did that, but. But he did this traumatic moment of loss. He strengthened himself in the Lord. Verse 6. He got alone with God.

There was a time in my life when I couldn't stand to be alone. Now I look forward to it. No, really. It's a time when I just couldn't stand to be in my own skin at anything I could do to distract myself from whatever pain was on the inside. Now I just enjoy spending time with God alone.

I enjoy spending time with just me and my wife. I mean, I enjoy people, too, but then there's times when I don't want to be with people. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

Those that are online, you know exactly what I'm talking about because you watch online all the time and you actually never come to church. I'm glad you're online, but it is not the same thing as this. This is not the same as that.

What's the next thing he did? Look at the text. David said that Abathar, the priest, Ahimelech Son. Who's this? Do you know who this is?

This is the one guy that got away from the murder of Doag. One priest got away from all those 85 priests who were killed. A total genocide. It's the one guy that got away. But he didn't just get away.

He got away with what's called the ephod.

The Ephod. He. He gets away with the means by which to discern what God is saying from the priests. It's really remarkable. And so he calls for this guy.

What is the chances of one guy getting away with the ephod? God Abathar brought the Father to David. Verse 8. You all there? Verse 8.

So David inquired of the Lord, saying, shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them? And he notice it's capital H. He answered them, pursue. You will surely overtake them. And without fail recover all.

He gets a word from God. He strengthens himself in the Lord. He then inquires, you got to have a prayer life. You must base all your decisions in life on prayer. You got to base your decision life on the Word.

And you've got to. You've got to soak everything in prayer. Don't make major decisions without prayer. And in the midst of loss, especially because you can really not be thinking right. Does anybody know what I'm talking about?

I think David, I said, as I said last week, was grieving over. Over the loss of his prophet. Pastor Samuel's dead. And that's when he decides, I'm just gonna smoke Nabal, you idiot. I'm like, he's, I'm done.

And Abigail talked him down. I think it was the grief and the sorrow that caused him to get to this place of not thinking right. Taking vengeance into your own hands. The second you take vengeance in your own hands, God takes his hands off it. May I suggest to you that you allow vengeance to be mine, says the Lord.

Let him take care of it. Let him fix it. Prophetic word over you, my anointed friend from California. I'm going to set the record straight. There were some things in the past that were really troublesome and pierced your heart through.

You're a man who loves deeply from the heart, and you're a man who's willing to give his shirt off his back. I mean, you go the extra mile, you're like that. Some misunderstood you and took advantage of and as a result hurt you very deeply. Younger in your younger years. I mean, you're a young man now, but I mean, like younger.

And you were able to step over that. And I see God giving restitution and I see God giving the word recompense to you. And he's going to set the record straight. He's going to set it straight. And when God sets the record Straight, honey, it's fixed.

When God fixes the wagon, it's fixed. And there's some things that were spoken and some obstacles and. And you were able to step over and forgive, but the Lord's going to correct it because you didn't pick it up, because you didn't take offense and you let it go. The Lord says, I'm a corrected. You receive that.

So that's a. That's a powerful thing to do. And so what David does, he strengthens himself. He inquires of the Lord, he gets a word from God. You know, if you get a word from God, it's over.

You get one word from God, it's O V E R. God will come through for you. But you must stand on that word. A lot of people don't know how to stand. Do you know what I mean by stand? It means you have.

If God says that this is where you're going to, don't move from that place that you're in. I'm going to give you this land. Well, don't walk off.

Everything you see around you is because we contended with the. By the grace of God, with a word from the Lord. If you have a word from the Lord, that is all you need. The battle belongs to the Lord. If you stand on his word, he will perform it.

He will bring it to pass. It will not return and void. It will come to pass. But you've got to get a word from the Lord. That's a battle.

There's spiritual warfare there.

And the losing of our son years ago, the new pastor. My wife's in recovery. My son has passed. I'm holding him in my arms in a room in the hospital, and I'm crying. And there came a moment where the Lord wanted to comfort me.

And because of some sort of unredeemed stronghold, I wanted to demand my sorrow. And I remember the Lord said, it's like, I want to. I'm going to help you now. And I'm like, why?

And when I said, why, it's just like. It's like he stepped back. How come God, I thought. And then all of these thoughts start going, and before you know it, the Lord's not there. And the whole room goes dark.

And then the barrage on my mind was unrelenting. What kind of a pastor you. God's not words true. If you were a real pastor of God, Word is real. Everything you're doing is fake.

It's all bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang. Like a hammer just hammering, hammering. And I got to the place where I felt like I was gonna die. The heaviness and this sorrow and the hammering of the enemy. It got to this place where I was just about ready to just.

I just wanted to die. And then something happened. And you know what? I know that was. It was 70 intercessors in the.

In the waiting room. 70 young adults was over the young adult ministry. 70 young adults. Pastor Colleen, our pastor, our head pastor's wife, People praying, My mother praying, people interceding. I know that's what it was.

I know back. I look now, I feel like the Lord spoke to me. That's what happened. You had people praying. Otherwise you'd have been creamed.

I don't know how you do life not a part of a church. I do not know how you do life without people who will stand and agree and put the shield of faith up and agree and bind and loose and take authority and people that you can lean on when you. When you don't feel like you can stand.

And in this moment where there was like the lights were going out, all of a sudden, in my heart, I remember a flicker of hope. No. God's good. He saved me. That's the next thought I had.

And I thought you saved me. And I yelled, jesus. Loud fire came down in that room. All the lights came back on. Hope filled my heart.

And I realized, oh, my gosh, that was. That was the midnight hour. There's a battle in the middle of the night that'll try to take your faith. If you're moving forward in God, you'll. Do you know something?

No, what? Okay, well, I'll tell you. This is three days before he's made king. Three. Three days later, he would become king.

He's gone for all these years. Hidden in a cave, avoiding javelins. He's done all the. I mean, he's made mistakes and he's lied, but God's kept him. He's three days before Zion.

Call it ziklag. Before Zion, many times before you have the greatest breakthrough of your life. You will have a darkness that comes over you. You will have an assignment from the enemy that gets. Wants to get you to kitchen sink is another principle.

Do you know what I mean by that? I don't know if you've ever been in a fight, but, like one that you were really going to get hurt in just about before you're going to get creamed. You don't fight fair anymore, pirate. You don't fight fair anymore.

It's not just.

And that's what the Enemy does. When you're. When you're pushing and you're pressing and you're about to have breakthrough, he's just going to hit you with everything. It is a principle. Now, don't claim that.

But what if it does happen? Don't. Yes, that's what's happening. Well, maybe. Maybe you've just made mistakes, you know, maybe something else is happening.

But understand that there is a great battle, a great battle for you. Being promoted three days before he's coordinated. King over Judah. Not the whole thing, just 1 12th. So he's prophesied.

And I love that. Don't you love that you're gonna become king? The oil gets poured over you. You're gonna become the next king. Yeah.

Now you run around for. For years. He's like 28 years old. When he finally is made king. 33rd.

Pardon me, he's 30. Well, he killed Goliath about when he was 17. That's a long time to be in preparation. Right. Most people quit.

Be like, how come I'm not leading outreaches in Anchorage? Well, the Lord's trying to get you to tithe and pray, not feeling the love. Lift your hands all across this place. Jesus, help me. Yeah.

God will promote you as fast as you're willing to die and obey. Die to your stud yourself. I want to see your face. Only dead men see his face.

He. He's anointed the king and has to wait because he's being prepared to be the king. And the preparation process, many people throw off the yoke right there because they didn't get it. They weren't promoted. They weren't the one.

And all the while, God's trying to put his likeness into. You're made in his image. And like, he's trying to put his character in you. Every hit, every. Every blessing, every touch of God, every assignment of the enemy, the Lord will allow it.

If you respond right, it'll allow it to make you into his servant. But I want to be promoted now. And if I don't, then I quit. Let me know how that works for you. I don't work too good.

You know what I love about that is it just says, oh, it's like my coach, my lacrosse coach. Years ago, we would run these things called corn fields that were very painful and difficult. The things about, oh, maybe three quarters of a mile it was, half of it was uphill around this cornfield. You'd come down. Well, there were certain rules, and if you didn't do it right, you had to do another one.

And I remember him saying, seeing us coming in, he's like, nope, nope, take a lap, take a lap. Take a lap. And we just go and just do another. You know, the beautiful thing about failing is if you're not dead and in hell, then he gives you another opportunity.

What if you're in debt? In your house, too late.

Decisions made. When you cross over into eternity, you're fixed. Otherwise the devil could repent. He can't repent because God's just and decisions into eternity cannot be changed. Can I repent after I'm dead?

No, it's fixed. Time's over for you. Whatever you lived for, that's what you get.

Lift your hands to Jesus. Hallelujah.

He encouraged himself, he strengthened himself. And he's been waiting all these years. He's three days away from being coordinated for 1/12. Not all of it, just one tribe, of which he then stays as the king over Judah for seven years before he gets the whole thing.

Bump your neighbor and say, this is a test. Come on, bump your. Bump your neighbor, say, this is a test. Bump your other neighbor and say, you're being tested. How you doing?

He gets a word, pursue, overtake, surely overtake them. Verse 8. And you will without fail recover all. Look at verse nine. David went, so he gets a word.

He's. He's moving now. He went and his 600 men. So, you know, he told him, huh? I talked to God.

God talked to me. It's good. We're going to pursue, overtake and recover everything. Yeah, well, you were just lying. I mean, they just knew something.

I think about David then he was like, but God's with him, though. I mean, he was lying and manipulating. But I'm going to take him. He said, the Lord said, I'm gonna believe him. And they believe.

So 600 men follow him. He gets a word and he tells them they don't want to kill him anymore. They're now on a. On a journey to pursue, pursue, overtake and recover everything. So they said, 600 men.

Verse 9. Are you all there? Verse 9.

Some had to stay behind because they were tired.

Verse 10. But David pursued. He and his 400 men, 200 stayed behind, who were so weary that they could not cross the brook. Look at verse 11, underline verse 11, because this is profound. This is God's positioning GPS.

How many? Raise your hand if you heard of GPS. This is God's positioning system. So he's obeying the word, he's got no idea whether. Where he's going.

I mean, I'm sure that maybe they're trackers and they're trying to figure it out. But they. They come to an Egyptian and the guy's sick. I mean, we got no time to help this Egyptian. But they do help him.

He's. He was left for dead by his master, and he's on the side of the road and they decide to have mercy. You know, if you will. If you will be kind to people and you be compassionate to people, you might actually minister to an angel. Unaware.

Hebrews talks about that.

Found an Egyptian in the field and they brought him to David and they gave him bread. Hallelujah. And he ate it. They gave him a drink of water, and they gave him a piece of cake of figs and two clusters of raisins. So when he had eaten, his strength came back to him.

For he had eaten no bread or drunk no water for three days and three nights. He's close to death. God used him to save him. Then David said to him, to whom do you belong and where are you from? And he said, I'm a young man from Egypt, a servant of the Malachite.

And my master left me behind because three days ago I fell sick.

So they. They've had. They've had the wives and children for three days. You understand, right?

We made an invasion in the southern area and territory which belongs to Judah and the southern area of Caleb. And we burned Ziklag with fire. So he's one of the ones that was in the raiding party. Wow, that's a miracle. So David said to him, can you take me down to this troop?

And he said, swear to me by God that you'll either kill me nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I'll take you down. He knows where they are. It's a miracle. He gets a word from God, he starts obeying. You know, the moment you start to obey is the moment God releases miracles to you.

If you don't get moving, the Jordan never parts, honey. You can believe. Oh, there's. If there's a flood stage, Jordan, how much going to get across to Jordan? You get a word from God.

Move forward, priest. Put your foot in it. But it's flood stage. Put your foot in it. And when they did another parting of the Jordan at flood stage, why?

So that people could see the power of God. So that God could get all the credit. God supernaturally will provide. If you'll get move. Come on, bump your neighbor and say, get going.

Get. Go. Get going. Get. Obeying.

Listen, if you're dry and you're stale and you don't feel God's power in your life anymore. You have to ask, why is that? And I would venture to say that you might not have obeyed the last thing that he told you. And you drifted on to go do something else because it was too hard or too thick or too impossible. And you went to sister, brother Frigidaire and you just decided, no, that wasn't the Lord and you talked yourself out of it.

And then you don't see miracle power. Go back to that place. What is God saying you tonight? What is God saying to you? What is he telling you to do tonight?

What is he asking you to obey tonight? And I want to tell you many times, it's impossible. How am I going to find them? There are three days, they could be anywhere. They're probably all dead.

Shut up.

You get a word from God and you obey it. You don't reason it away. Most people take a word from the Lord and they're like, well, that doesn't make any sense because I don't even do where I'm going. A GPS hasn't been invited, hasn't been invented yet. I'm hungry, I'm tired.

How am I going to pursue them? How am I going to overtake them? And you wind yourself up into this hissy fit and you never get moving. And as a result the Egyptian miracle, who has the answers to where they are, doesn't come upon you. And how many of you know, they got strength, they got strengthened, and it's good because they have to fight all night.

So he takes him down to the troop and when David. Verse 16, everybody say verse 16. And David brought him down there they were spread out all over the land, eating and drinking and dancing because of the great spoil which they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from the land of Judah. Then David attacked. What David do?

He attacked them from twilight. So that's the sun's going down, it's nighttime until evening the next day.

They're exhaust. What happened to the weeping till they have no more strength. I guess they have strength now. How did they get strength? Shaka, Holy Ghost, Strength?

God empowered strength by obeying the Word. And God helped them. They fought all night till the next night and they won. And they got all their wives back, they got all their kids back, they got all their stuff back. Look at this with me verse.

David attacked them at twilight, verse 17 to the evening the next day. Not a man of them escaped, except 400 young men who rode on Camels and fled. David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away. And David rescued his two wives. And nothing of theirs was lacking, neither small nor great, son or daughters, spoil or anything they had taken from them.

David recovered all I'm telling you, no matter what you. Please listen to what I'm telling you. No matter what you're going through in your life or no matter whatever comes your way, God will always strengthen you. God will always give you a word. And if you'll obey the word, you will pursue, you will overtake, and you will recover everything.

Pursue. Obey. Overtake. Recover everything. Say it.

Pursue. Overtake. Recover everything. Can I have keys, please? Pursue.

Overtake. Recover everything. Pursue. There's a fight involved. If it was simple and easy, anybody would do it.

There used to be some stupid book that came out in the 80s that if it wasn't easy, it wasn't God. That is like. I think the opposite, actually. If it's hard, the devil must be nervous. I'm on track.

In fact, there's been moments in this building project and other things we've done over the years where we just get to the place where, like, I remember sitting at home and I'm like, oh, it's very good right now. It's very good. Oh, Jesus. Hallelujah. And then, wham.

Battle. At every new level, there's a new devil, it's true, but there's also a new level of anointing and power to overcome it. You don't yield to fear. You don't cave into the. Your tiredness.

Leaders lean, says Dr. James Morocco. You lead, you lead. As a man, you lead. As a woman, you lead, you pursue. That means seeking him.

That means getting up maybe for morning prayer. Oh, that's too early. Okay, take another lap, I guess. How come. How come I don't have the favor like some of.

Some of these other people I know? Maybe you didn't do it. They did. To actually walk into favor. What about that?

I can't tie. That's too much. I need that 10%. Let me know how that works for you 10 years from now. I don't.

Yeah, it's a. You guys are kings. He's just a little extra.

Look at the fruit. I mean, that's a bold thing to say, but, I mean, look at the fruit. You'll know them by their fruit. You know something? I don't yoke with people who don't have supernatural breakthrough.

Don't do it. You have it all the time. All the time. Supernatural breakthrough all the time. It is what God gives his people.

There is an. There's a way of unexplainable. It doesn't make sense. How did that happen? And all.

You could be like the Lord. Do you know that is the. The walk with God like that, you'll go through loss, you go through difficulty. Ziklag before Zion Kitchen sink principle three days before he's coming, becoming king. I think maybe the devil heard about it.

Try to get him to quit. Try to kill him right before he becomes king. And by the way, David was selected. Book of Acts says he was chosen. And when he finished his purpose, he rested with his father.

Says the book of Acts, there was a purpose for David. I'm going to tell you what it is. It's to subjugate the promised land because Joshua didn't finish the job, number one. Number two, it was to be in the lineage of Jesus. He's a picture of the Christ, a picture of the Messiah.

Pursue, overtake, recover everything. You know what I'm going to do all of my life, I'm a pursue. I'm gonna overtake. I'm gonna recover everything. How about you, man?

I love this mercy. You know, I had one of our staff called me and said, I am so tired that I. I can't. I basically can't stand. I can't. I can't stand.

I said, stay at home. Sit home. It's resting. That's a beautiful picture right there of God's mercy and rest that comes. There are times, thank God, for those who are not tired tonight.

Gave it all, all day. Just needed to, like, lie down, was worn out. That's okay. That happens. How many of you know that happens?

And I love what David does. He gives. He rewards them. He gives them the same thing that everybody else got. You read that further down.

And then he sends gifts. David's a giver. Givers gain. Say that with me. Givers, givers gain.

And he sets up this principle of giving that's carried on into the generations after. It's. It's awesome. He sends gifts, blesses. He blesses those who stayed behind with the bags.

Studies in the life of David. Lift your hands. Hallelujah.

Learn to strengthen yourself.

Have a life of inquiring of God. Have a lifestyle of inquiring.

30 years, nearly pastoring.

We just learned. Just. Just keep talking. You still want to do it this way. It's just constantly fasting, constantly praying.

That's how you have victory. That's how you get it. It's pursue, overtake. You got to Fight. Sometimes you got to fight.

They fought all night. Sometimes you got to fight all night. Weeping endures for a night. But joy comes in the morning. Joy comes in the morning.

Goso that joy. Go so, go so. Go so, go so. And they call us on donde joy. Joy, you know, joy is the flag that flies from the heart who has Jesus enthroned.

And when he speaks to you and you keep obeying, you will have joy. You never want to give your prayer request to an intercessor that's constantly miserable because they're not going anywhere.

Pastor Karen told me to tell me, say that. Isn't that right, Pastor Karen?

Suffering for Christ. I said, man, get the victory for victory in Jesus, my Savior forever. He sought me and he bought me.

Come on. Come on. Receive impartation tonight of strength from God. Receive impartation of hope tonight. Receive it.

Lift your hands. Come on. Turn your satellite dish towards heaven. Come on. Receive tonight strength, hope, patience, endurance.

Pursue, overtake, Recover everything. Pursue, overtake and recover all. Pursue, overtake, recover all. Come on, say it. Pursue, overtake, recover all.

Apply that principle in every situation of loss and difficulty and warfare. If you're going through something, you feel like, man, you just. You got robbed, the enemy hit you, some things happen, and you feel like you can't weep anymore. I mean, it's difficult. You forced yourself to come to church tonight when you came to hear the right message.

You're going to do what David did, even though you haven't lived right. You made mistakes and went from pillar to post and maybe lied, and 85 priests get killed. There's mercy. His mercy is new every morning. His mercy's new every morning.

So it's not morning. Oh, no. Oh, no, it's morning somewhere. It's morning somewhere. It's mercy's new every morning.

He could put mercy on you right now. He can put strength on you right now. If you need help, you need strength. Stand up on your feet. All across this place, God is releasing it to people all across.

Pursue, overtake, Recover all. Say it. Pursue, overtake, Recover all. Recover every everything. Father, thank you for strength.

Thank you for anointing. Thank you for your power that's being released upon your people, your bride, your blood washed company here. Thank you. Weakness. Go.

Weariness. Go. Overwhelming emotions. We command to be silenced. We declare your plan.

Your plan. Your plan. Purpose coming about. There's not one thing in hell that can stop you. You can.

You can stop you. Come on. The word of God. You can nullify. Jesus said to the pharisees and the Sadducees.

You can nullify the word through tradition. You're so powerful, so made in God's image that you can release God's word or you can nullify it. You're the only one that can, because you're made in God's image. And like this. Don't nullify it.

Don't stop the word, loose the word, stand on the word, declare the word, preach the word, speak the word, get a word. And don't back off of that thing until it comes to pass. You see, that's so intense. It's a battle, and lives lie in the balance. His wives would have been raped, his kids would have been gone.

He would have been killed, and. And that would have interrupted the. The lineage of the Messiah. Come on. God's able to do it.

Lift your hands one more time. Talk to God. Well, I hope you were encouraged by God's word. Thank you again for listening to Kings Alaska podcast. God bless you.
