David Anointed King & The Taking of Zion

May 15, 2026

Pastor Daniel Bracken taught from 2 Samuel 5 that David’s long season of waiting and suffering prepared him for God’s timing, showing that when God finally establishes you, you must rely on Him for victory, not manipulation or retaliation. He emphasized that new levels of calling often bring new battles, but God’s anointing always leads to breakthrough when we stay faithful and inquire of the Lord.

Hi, this is Pastor Daniel Bracken. You're listening to Kings Alaska Podcast. I hope the Word encourages you and you get a touch from God that brings transformation and equips you to experience life with people, power and purpose. Thank you for joining us. Enjoy the Word.

Second Samuel, chapter five. You can turn there. It has been a very impactful series to me as we go through the events of the Life of David, really focusing in on that which I sense the Holy Spirit would have me focus in on. So it's not a focus on everything in the Life of David, but we are, I think, 16 messages in. How many of you have been enjoying the Life of David?

I've encouraged you to go ahead and read about the life of David. First and Second Samuel, first and Second Kings. If you'll read it, then when you come to church on Wednesday, Sunday night, or whenever I preach, it's usually Wednesday, Sunday night, you'll have a greater understanding of what's taking place and it won't just be like, oh, I. Wow, I. I never heard that story. If you, if you read it, then your heart will be positioned in a way to. To hear and respond and really understand it in a greater way.

Last we. Last we were in Second Samuel, chapter two.

Now Saul's dead. Quick review. Saul's dead. Second Samuel, chapter one. And David doesn't start singing, yay.

My persecutor is dead. Which is profound because he had 3,000 men. Saul, King Saul chasing David with 3,000 men. And so he's been basically, for seven years plus, on the run from Saul. He's been anointed by the prophet Samuel, who's.

None of. None of Samuel's words fell to the ground. He was anointed to be the king over Israel, but he over all of Israel. But he has to wait. It's quite a thing when God anoints you and you have to wait.

The promises of God and the timings of God are two separate issues. I must say that again, the promises of God and the timings of God are two separate things. So you have a promise. You have a prophetic word. God spoke something to you.

Maybe a prophet prophesied over you. You have a word from the Lord. And in this case, one of the greatest Old Testament prophets ever chooses David, the young ruddy one. Family dysfunction didn't even invite him to the sacrifice when the prophet came to the house. Man looks at the outward appearance.

God looks at the, at the heart. All right, chooses him, pours oil over him, anoints him to be the next King. Wow. Except he's, you know, 17 years old. And how's that going to happen?

Who knows? God has a plan, but he didn't know. He goes about his business, and eventually he's called on to be the next worship leader at the White House. It's not the White House. It's Gibeah.

It's the. It's the center of government there. And Saul's got a. Is demonized because he's been rejected by the Lord. And David is now the anointed one.

Three public anointings in the life of David. We're going to actually see the third one tonight. Three public anointings is the only one anointed publicly three times in scripture. More verses of scripture about King, about David the shepherd boy, than any other in the Old Testament. And it is profound.

So he's anointed, but then he. He becomes a worship leader. And then he goes back to see his dad and tend to the. The sheep that are there. And there's a war.

And his Lord sent the Lord. His father. Jesse sends him to go deliver pizza. He's the original pizza delivery boy. It's not really pizza, but it is bread and cheese.

And pizza is pretty. I guess it was missing some red sauce. But anyway, he delivers bread and cheese to the battle. And when he's out there, he sees Goliath who comes and mocks God, mocks Israel. And David says, dude, let's.

Why don't we drop him? God's with us. But they were all terrified. And this went on for 40 days. Well, he, He.

He gets there. He's like, what? Do something? And they said, oh, well, actually, if you drop him, you get tax exempt. He gets a first 501C3.

Tax exempt status. He gets tax exempt status. He gets the, The. The. The daughter of the king.

He gets a girl, gets married. Hello. And he becomes a champion. Well, he wants to do it, not because of all those things, but I think it might have been a. Somewhat of a light motivator.

I mean, really, I get the girl, too, but I get to honor God, I think, you know, being a young man. Are there any young men here? We should move on. Anyway, he. He kills Goliath and becomes a national hero at 17 years old and is basically, I mean, superstardom overnight at 17.

Could you handle that? I'm just wondering. Most people end up losing their minds when all kinds of fame and fortune and money and favor and he never goes back home. Basically, he. He moves in and David kills Saul, kills his thousands.

David Killed his ten thousands. And Saul gets jealous and begins to hunt him down. He's got this relationship with Jonathan. It's this amazing story, and the one who's called a man after God's own heart. I guess I'm taking a little bit more time to review than.

Than I expected, but it's good. Then after God's own heart goes and lies, which I. I like that. I like that, Pastor. I like. I mean, I don't like the fact he lied.

I just like the fact that he's named a man after God's own heart and he screws up as much as he does. Can we say screwed up in church? Amen. He had problems. He did things not so right.

I mean, he goes to Knob and he lies to the priest. The priest is like, david, what are you doing? Where's your entourage? Oh, you know, I was sent on a journey by king. You have any food?

The king said, oh, yeah, urgent. You have any food? He asked for the show bread. He gets the sword of Goliath. He lies.

And some freak by the name of Doag. Demonized. Doag. Come on, somebody say demonized. Doeg.

Demonized. Doeag is one of the. One of the servants of Saul, sees David, goes back, tells Saul lies. Add some stuff to it. And basically, because of David's original lie, 85 priests are murdered because of the man after God's own heart.

Is anybody getting encouraged yet? Come on. You might have messed up. You might have getting jacked up. You might have blown it.

David had a man after. It was a man after God's own heart because he would constantly retune and get back. Oh, God, I'm sorry. Cast me not away from thy presence, O Lord. And he writes these psalms, and it's just amazing.

David is amazing to me. And he's a type and shadow, of course, of Christ.

The adullum years. He's in a cave. He's tested, you know, he wasn't ready to be king, I don't think. And some of us, you know, we. We get the word of the Lord and we just think it should happen right away.

And then God's working on you. Your current difficulty is. Is being used by the Lord. If you'll. If you'll respond rightly to make you more like Christ.

Say that my current problem is a. Is a design to help me become more like Jesus. Okay? It doesn't mean your current problem is from God.

Should we go there? But problems. Okay, how many of you ever. Ever created your own problem? Great.

Okay, so you might have done it. All right. Somebody said, what about the devil? Oh, the devil makes problems too. And then there's God's discipline.

There's a discipline of heaven. It's a number of reasons you're having a problem right now. One, you Two, the devil not in order. Three, God's disciplining you. Jonah, you're supposed to go preach.

Jonah, you didn't go. Now there's a storm. How are you going to try to bind a storm that God sent? It's impossible. You can't take authority over.

Over the Lord when he sends something to give you spankings. Come on, bump your neighbor and say, is he talking to you tonight?

There's creation. There's creations grown. There's things in creation. So there's a number of reasons. It's not all the devil.

It's not all the devil. There are things that come from God. There are things because your own foolishness or somebody else. How many have been heard from somebody else? Okay, bringing us close to Second Samuel five.

Second Samuel one. It's over. Well, we. We didn't talk about Ziklag. Great message and very encouraging that God will anoint you to pursue, overtake and recover everything.

Ziklag happens. Ziklag is burned with fire. David and his men lose all of their wives and children. Bad day, difficult day. But God intervenes and they pursue, overtake and recover everything.

Well, it is on that day, three days later, Saul and his son Jonathan, or killed David gets news of that. And he writes this song and he makes the whole nation learn it, makes all the children learn it. It's 1st Samuel, chapter 1 and verse 19. And it's beautiful because he does what we're supposed to do. We're supposed to know no man by the flesh.

He doesn't view. He. You don't see all this critical things from verse 19 to verse 27 about what a dirt bag he was and how he sinned and didn't know bay. God it's says, oh, how the mighty have fallen. And it.

In fact, it was the name of the message. How the mighty have fallen. It's a picture that mighty, mighty and God can fall. You can lose the anointing, you can backslide. You can forfeit everything.

Don't do it. Bump your other neighbor and say, don't do it. I've made every plan of not becoming like a saw. And so he writes this song and he has the children learn it. And it becomes this.

It's this lament over Saul and over Jonathan and his son, verse 18. So he told them to teach the children of Judah the song of the bow. That's what it's called, the song of the bow. What did that do? This is just a longer view than I expected, but I'm feeling like you need to hear it.

What did that do? It taught children to honor, not to curse, even when people are wrong. You're to be honorable to people. I'm going over here to the. I'm going to.

Hopefully. This is the honorable section. Is this the honorable section? You're to be honorable to people. Why?

You don't know what they did to me. Yeah, you're honorable. That's why you're be honorable, because you are honorable. Now, like I said in that service, some people need to be sued so that they stop hurting other people. Some people need to be stopped.

But David trusted the Lord through all these things. And chapter three, Joab kills Abner. I mean, there's just all this civil war really taking place. Go to Second Samuel, chapter four. This is important because I'm going to preach a message, perhaps an illustrated message up and coming on.

On Jonathan, Jonathan's son, whose name is Mephibosheth. Look at. Look at Second Samuel four. Jonathan, Saul's son, who was lame in his feet. He was five years old when news about Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel.

And his nurse took him up and fled. And it happened as she made haste to flee that he fell and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth. Wow. Mephibosheth means the mouth of shame.

It's crazy. Is that's not his original name. His original name is Maribel, which is the destroyer of baal. He got a name change when his nurse dropped him. Some.

Some of you felt that way, bleeding into that, leaking into that message just a little bit. It's so profound. Why would the nurse do that? Why? Well, when a king, when.

When. When a king would die and the next king would come on the scene, he would destroy all the seed royal is how scripture says it. He would destroy anyone that could possibly take the throne. So they were under the assumption. Absolutely.

David's going to kill everybody except David. Had a man, was a man after God's own heart. It's horrible. He's crippled and he gets a name change from the. How do you like the devil destroyer?

I mean, that's his original name now. Now he's no longer the devil destroyer now. He's handicapped in his feet, and they're like, that's not the devil Destroyer. That's the mouth of shame guy. Wow, horrible.

And he then he leaves the palace and he's no longer lives there. He dwells in a place called Lodobar. Go, go read up on all of that because it's just so profound up and coming.

Abner. Abner makes ishpuseth the weak. He's a 40 year old weak heir of Saul. He makes him king for about two years. And I think Abner, from what I can tell, is basically leading the northern tribes.

David is king over one tribe, 1 12th Judah. Everybody say Judah, Judah. It's a tribe to the south. So he becomes king over Judah. He's anointed as king over Judah, but he doesn't get to rule.

He only gets 1/12 fulfillment of the prophetic word. So all the other tribes, it's really nine. And then Ted would be, let's say the Levites. But the Levites really kind of belong to both. It's 12 tribes might be too much information for you, but 12 tribes.

So the other northern tribes are called Israel. And there's one tribe to the south called Judah. All he had was little itty bitty Judah. And he was faithful and the king over Judah for seven years. And so I think it's five years that Abner is the king, basically a military ruler, if you will.

There's no real king. He makes ishp, which is the son of Saul. And he was, he was. It didn't work out.

And that brings us to chapter five. And Ishbath is murdered by some, some of David's men, which is grievous to him. And he goes ahead and takes their lives for doing it. Here we go, you're up to speed. Let's all stand up on our feet.

Second Samuel, chapter five. Read a few verses and then we'll, then we'll get into it a little bit. Then all the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and spoke to him saying indeed, you are our bone and our flesh. Now Hebron is in Judah. So they come to, they come to where he is ruling the tribe.

Tribal leaders come down these, these other tribes. Israel comes down.

We are now bone, your bone and your flesh. Also. In time past, when Saul was king over us, you were the one who led Israel and brought them in. And the Lord said to you, you shall be shepherd over my people Israel and be ruler over Israel. Therefore the elders of Israel came to king to the king at Hebron.

And King David made a covenant of them in Hebron before the Lord. And, and they Anointed David king over Israel, verse 4. He was 30 years old when he began to reign and reign for 40 years. In Hebrony, reigned over Judah seven years and six months. And in Jerusalem, he reigned 33 years and over all of Israel and Judah.

Father move in power in Jesus name. Amen. You may be seated. I want you to get this picture. Why?

Because there's tremendous lessons of character in here. So you have all of these. So the. These leaders come now. Who are these leaders?

These are. These are leaders that didn't back him. These are leaders that backed ispa. I'm sure I'm pronouncing his name wrong. They were not in David's corner.

They didn't come to unite the kingdom before, but now there's, like, nobody else. And they see that David's anointed. In fact, they quote. They quote prophecy.

How the Lord said to you, the Lord said, they quote, you shall be shepherd. That's a. That's a prophecy. You can go back and see. It was prophesied over him that he would shepherd his people Israel.

It's all these prophetic promises, and they just hit a few. We understand the prophetic word. Can you imagine? Can you imagine? Oh, they come.

They come to David. You could be David. They say code, the Lord's with you. He prophesied, and we want you to be king. What?

I mean, if they did that to me, I mean, get the whole picture. Debbie, be like, man, where were you like seven years ago, bro? Like, I mean, you've been back in this guy and backing that guy. Now you're coming to me and you want me to be king, and you're quoting scripture. You guys are a bunch of.

Bunch of losers. I think that might have been my response. He doesn't do that. You know, any. Any leader that uses their power and their authority and their anointing to hurt other people is.

Got a lot of issues. And David doesn't do it. He could have slaughtered everybody. That's on. Listen, the.

What they would do back then is that anybody on Saul's side is toast. Everybody's going to be slaughtered as a result. But David doesn't do that. Why? I think because David had the fear of the Lord.

And I think that David understood that God called him and God established him. And when God, if God would establish him as king, that he didn't have to kind of manipulate it and make it happen. There are people that get in positions of authority for. For the accolades of man, and they get in those positions, and man That's a stressful thing to try to hold on to something that you fabricated and you made and you manipulated and you had this person over here and you had this person over there, and then you're just holding on to all this. Maybe in the business world or in.

In ministry, if you manipulate to try to get political power, but you listen, you can really mess that up. When God establishes you, he establishes you, and then you really don't need to worry about it. I mean, you need to keep doing the right thing. God had called him to be king, and I love how he doesn't. He doesn't take advantage of these guys, all the elders, and he just accepts it.

Now, understand, David was 30 years old. He's a type and a shadow of Jesus. When did Jesus start his earthly ministry? When do priests start their ministry? 30.

30. 30 is, is an age where you would go into ministry, and that's what Jesus did for 33 and a half years. And then they crucified him.

Verse 6. So, so that's, you know, that's, that's. That's profound to me. All the tribes of Israel, oh, I want to speak to this. They appealed to David.

Here we are flesh. Does that sound familiar? It's a little bit different, but it's the same idiom. This is now bone of my bone. Raise your hand if you ever heard that before.

This is now bone of my bone, flesh of my flesh. Where was that told? That's. That's Adam seeing his wife. He's like, yeah, this is now bone of my bone, flesh of my flesh.

It's a Hebrew idiom saying, we're blood, we're related. This is we're together. So they come after denying him all this period of time standing with Saul, putting another king in place. Abner gets murdered. Ishp gets murdered.

The they have nobody else to put up as king. And then they come and they say, hey, David, what's up? Bone of my bone, flesh of my flesh. I mean, it just makes me want to kind of get sick. But God does.

Anybody. You'll get it because you can miss it if you don't understand what's happening. So it's. It's really amazing. Go to verse six.

Let's read verse six. You can stay in your seats. And King David and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites. So first thing he does, so he's now anointed as king over all of Israel. The very first act as king is to go kick out the uncircumcised Philistines that Jebusize, Pardon me, verse 6.

And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land who spoke to David saying, you shall not come up here, but the blind and lame will repel you, thinking David cannot come up here. So they're in this, what's called the stronghold of Zion, which becomes the city of David. And it is kind of confusing, so I'm going to try to cast some light on it. Many times when the scriptures talk about the city of David's talking about all of Jerusalem, but literally the city of David is an 11 acre using acres. It's an 11 acre piece of land where the Jebusites were.

It was, it was not conquered by Joshua and the tribes when they took the promised land, they did not subjugate the land. They did not finish kicking out every single person that wasn't supposed to be there. So the Jebusites had stayed on for hundreds of years now, and there they are. I'm so thinking, I think it's 500 years and there they are still in this place called Zion. And it's, it's a hill and it's got these valleys around it.

If you've been to Jerusalem, and it can be a little confusing, but one of the other mountains there is Mount Moriah, where the Temple Mount is, which is where Abraham sacrifice, went to sacrifice his son. Very good, Isaac. Type and shadow. Bring your son, your only son, your one and only son, to the place where I show you. Please concentrate for a moment because it's going to build your faith.

So Abraham is sent by God to the place called Moriah. He finds it after journeying for three days and he goes up to Mount Moriah to sacrifice his son, your one and only son. Your only son. And when he goes to sink the knife, an angel stops him and says, now I know you can be trusted. And God brings a ram.

There's a ram in the thicket. That place is the exact same place that Jesus would be crucified millennium later. It is absolutely astounding. And that is not only the, the place of where Jesus in the region area where he's crucified, but it's the Temple Mount. I'll give you another crazy thing that I can't, I can't substantiate or prove to you.

I've heard others do it. I like it, I just don't know if it's true. So can I have a little, can I have a little theological pass for just a minute? Can I, can I just share something with you. Perry Stone and some others teach that the location of Eden is right there.

And that literally where the. The Temple Mount is, is the same place where the. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil was. And it is rather profound. You have to have a different understand of Luz.

I just got to keep going. Otherwise I'm gonna lose all you and be like, what do they even say tonight? You have to have a different understanding of that. And he's proven it, but I. I've not backed it and proven it myself. But anyway, Perry Stone's a unique individual.

I've heard others teach it. So literally, the place where Jesus died, his blood went down and basically came into what's called the. The. The. The.

The place where the. The tree was a place where it's the holy of holies. That's what they. What he believes. And he.

It actually. He thinks it actually came on. I don't know if this is him or somebody else that actually came on the ark anyway, maybe a little bit too much, but the types of. I'm back to. Back to theology that I know is true and can preach to you.

Okay. Just enjoy that as an isolated hole there. Okay. Oh, Pastor said, then I said something like that years ago, Pastor Austin and somebody said, pastors said, we're all gods. They called Dr. Morocco.

I did not say that. And by the way, let me say, if you ever hear me say something that's not biblical. That's not what I meant. Okay.

You should study to show yourself approved. You should be like the Bereans that go back and study theology matters. Truth matters. Doctrine matters. All right, where are we?

Ah, City of David. Jerusalem. Temple Mount. So the City of David or Zion? Zion and the City of David are the same thing.

But a lot of people look at it and say the whole thing is the City of David. It changes in scripture here. The City of David, he renamed Zion. The City of David. Here, it's called zion.

That's this 11 acre piece of land that's very high. And it's impossible to take it if you have the high ground. Everybody heard that you got to take the high ground. That in warfare, taking. Having the high ground, you have absolutely.

Come on. Some of you saw Star wars resent Revenge of the Sith. You have the high ground. You have. You have dominance.

And so when you're trying to take the. The high ground, they just shoot arrows down on you, throw boiling oil on you. I mean, it's not good if you don't have the high Ground, it's seriously against you. And they mock David. They said, nana, nana foo foo.

Yeah, yeah. We didn't even have to have normal. We don't have to have normal troops. We can use special needs people is what it's saying. I'm not against special needs.

I might be. I is one. Maybe raise your hand if you rode the short bus. Okay, don't do it. Don't raise your hand.

Did you raise your hand? We're all special. Everybody bump somebody and say, you're special. You're special. Come.

Don't tell your other. The other neighbor you're special.

Pastor Austin told me to say that, okay?

So he's mocking him and said, listen, if we were all blind and stuff, we'd still beat you, you idiot. You go ahead and try. We don't worry about it. Because blind people could fight against you. You've got no chance.

And I love the next verse. It's what happens to people of faith. It's what happens when God is with you.

Nevertheless, verse 7. Nevertheless, David took the stronghold of. And then you see, it says, that is the city of David. He renames it the city of David, but it's the stronghold of Zion. And how he takes it, you can go read in and Chronicles chapter 11.

It's this beautiful picture of strategy. There's a strategy for every battle that you're in. We had a great breakthrough, as I said earlier. I can't tell you all about it just yet, but it's a strategy. You have to be led by the Lord.

You have to get a strategy from God. And so the strategy that David has, first thing he's doing is like, you're out of here. We're finishing what Joshua started. You've gotta go. Plus, I like this area and I wanna make it my hometown.

And it becomes the city of the king, literally, Jerusalem. It literally becomes the city of the king.

Verse 8.

Now, David said on that day, whoever climbs up by the way of the water shaft. Now there's this water shaft. I've preached on it. I'm more teaching on it now. In 1867, Sir Charles Warren Warren, W A R R E N discovered this tunnel that had been built even prior to David.

Seven hundred years, some say prior to David taking the city. It's believed to be that water shaft. It's a believed to be the water shaft. It is taught by some that it was a septic pipe. The septic pipe story preaches way better.

Come on. You just got to sometimes swim up stuff before you can win. It's a great preach, but I don't think it works.

Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming. Just keep. Come on, Dory, you can do it.

So there's this guy, Joab. He's a commander. He's not like Abner. Abner was a very seasoned general who, of course, dead by this time. And on Saul's side.

But Joab, Joab says, bro, I'll do it. I'll do it. And he goes, and. And Joab goes up this water shaft and basically lets in David and his army, and they wipe out and dispossess the people. Dispossesses the Jebusites.

You know, Jebusite means strong polluter. So he defeats them.

A unique strategy. Let's go on to verse 17.

Oh, I got to read verse 10. So David, look at verse 9. Then David dwelt in a stronghold, a city called David. And David built all around from the Milo. That's.

That's a particular term used for a hill. And inward. So David went on and became great. He did what? He became great.

And the Lord God of hosts was with him. It's funny how often that is said in Scripture, because when God's with you, you're going to fulfill the dream. You're going to become great in God if he's with you. Or go down to verse 17. Now, the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over all of Israel.

And the Philistines went up to search for David. So. So here. Here he is. He just kicked out the Jebusites.

And the uncircumcised Philistines said, well, let's get a piece of this. This guy David heard of it. He went down to the stronghold. And The Philistines, verse 18, went and deployed themselves in the valley of Raphael. So David inquired of the Lord.

Don't miss that. Over and over and over and over he inquired. It's prayer. It's prayer. Prayer is powerful.

Prayer moves the hand of God. Prayer changes things. Prayer changes things. The apostle said, in the New Testament, far be it for us to wait on tables. Let's develop a new leadership crew so we can give ourselves to prayer.

And. And the. The ministry of the Word. The ministry of the Word is more than just actually preparing sermons and preaching it or studying. It's actually doing it.

So they're saying, we gonna give ourselves to prayer. There's a lot of things that want to pull you off of prayer, man. This morning, at some point today, I don't know, it's. It's morning somewhere. I Had some challenges today, and I felt my flesh just get engaged.

Does anybody know what I'm talking about? It was a little bit of ptsd.

Anybody? Anybody understand? I. I had a little situation has made me just twitch a little bit. And I, I. My wife coughed.

I'm studying. She coughs. I'm like, you want to get some tea or something for that? I'm like, oh, Jesus, I think I've got a problem. Oh, Lord.

She's like, really? I'm like, oh, sorry, Jesus. Jesus, Karen. Jesus.

What a jerk. I repented already, I think, didn't I? I think I did. Me and the Lord did. Anyway, I think you're on.

I'm so sorry. I think we got straight. And I found myself like, oh, there's something. What is. What's up with you?

And I, I, I just got away. And I went, I went, began to pray, and I realized, oh, man, that was a traumatic experience. It's from a couple years ago. And I just shook it off and I said, lord. And the Lord showed me some things.

I said, God, what do you want me to do? And he showed me some other things. Like, lord, I inquired. Some of you run right to Facebook. You run right to your gossiping friends on social media, and you put some stuff out or call sister.

Can you believe? Here, you call your mama. Listen, if your husband did something stupid, do not call your mother and tell her about it, because you'll forgive him by tomorrow morning, and your mother will take a lifetime to forgive him. If you're doing. Come on.

If you do something and you get a fight with your husband, you go call your dad.

There you are. Daddy's a little girl. You call dad, and he's just like, You need me to come over there? You're gonna forgive him in the next 30 seconds, and Dad's gonna want to beat him down for the next year. You know, an unredeemed dad.

Inquire of the Lord. Seek him. Look for triggers. Look for things on the inside of you that are causing you to. David didn't kill everybody.

He. He's not bitter. You can tell the way people respond by whether they're bitter or not. You can tell what's in someone's heart. This the what is in David's heart.

Here with dealing with the. The tribes of Israel and becoming their king. He could have slaughtered him. By all rights, he should have just slaughtered him. That's what they did.

He didn't. He forgave him. He united the tribes. He fulfills the establishment of becoming king. Over all of Israel.

And he goes and finishes the unfinished work of Joshua. Joshua. And he knew, understand that. He knew he had the promise of God behind him on that because Joshua didn't finish it. I think maybe even he repented.

I mean, you read through the Psalms, it's. It's really astounding.

So the Philistines come to try to take him out. When, when the Philistines heard that they had anointed. You know something? Know what? When God anoints you, you will frequently have a brand new attack on your life.

Now, I don't want you to make that like doctrine, but I'm just saying that when there's warfare, you know, welcome to humanity. When God elevates, there are many times of pushback and retaliation from the enemy. Had a lot of pushback today. Anybody else must be walking in a new Shakalana Mahaya. That was my prayer language, my walking in a new anointing.

Some of you guys are so serious. Where's the interpretation? Where's the interpretation? Here's the interpretation. Lighten up, come on.

Lift your hands to Jesus.

Pastor Dwayne told me to say that there is tongues and interpretation this prophecy. Then there's tongues, all jokes aside. Then there's tongues, which is your prayer language that can be used corporately. We pray in the spirit all the time. It bothers some and I understand that.

Good thing I didn't give you notes because I'm going to go into that for a second. When I first came in the church, all I walked in, I was a service. I don't know, it was like, was like the fourth service at a place called Connie street, long before we had our new building in the Hawaiian Islands on the island of Maui. I came in at the end of like the third or fourth service. So when I came in, it was just wrapping up and everybody was praying in the spirit, building up their most holy faith.

Jude. And they're praying in the spirit. And I walked in, I stood in the back, it was wall to wall people. And I thought, what is going on in here? And I.

The next thought I have is, what a bunch of freaks. But I didn't get to finish the thought. What a bunch of. And I thought, what is that? And I lifted my hands and I felt God's power and presence like I never had before.

And I thought, oh God, you're in this place. And he started speaking to me and I know. And a call from the front by Dr. Morocco, who's still my pastor some 30 plus years later, is this if you have generational curses. He preached on generational curses and being set free from the curse. You feel like you have generational curses trying to operate in your life.

You want to be set free from those. Come to the front. I was in a dead sprint before my. I don't even know what a generation, a generational what. I don't even know what he was saying.

I didn't have a framework, a theology for it like I have now. I was in a dead sprint from the back. I ended up four by the time I got to the front. You've heard the story, many of you. I was four people back.

Dr. Morocco starts praying for people. And when he saw me kind of in this area of the altar for people, he reached through some people, he looked at me and it was like Jesus looking at me was creepy crazy. Reached over with his baseball mitt hand. These guys got a. He's got like a catcher's mitt for a hand.

Anybody ever seen the man's hands? Laid hands on my head. The power of what I know to be now, the power of God hit me, touched me. I'm on the ground weeping. I did not know what happened.

But my life has never been the sense. I've had successive, many touches like that. We're a spirit filled church, unapologetically spirit filled and with lots of scripture to back that. There is emotionalism in some places you say, does that happen here? I'm sure.

But we'll leave you and God to figure that out. If somebody gets up and starts barking like a chicken, believe me, we will take care of you in a very special way. We will lovingly remove you from the service and while you're acting like a nut job. But if you see it in scripture, if you see it in scripture, we're open to that happening. We want God.

You say, well, what about people in the flesh? There's, there's some of you in the flesh right now arguing in your mind over what I'm telling you. What about that?

It's gonna have people that get in the flesh. But you know what else happens? Precious lady who just pulled me aside at the greeting time and said, I don't know what you prayed for. My husband, he's totally changed, right? Do you think that's the flesh?

That's not the flesh. That's the spirit. Stage four cancer's healed right here. Blind eyes open right here for the glory of God by the anointing.

So yes, we pray in tongues and yes, we believe interpretation. We believe in the Gifts of the Spirit, all of them. We believe in all the gifts of the Spirit and hope and pray that they manifest here.

Come, Holy Spirit, I need the. Come, sweet Spirit, I pray. Come in thine strength and thy power.

Come in thine own special way. Well, when he comes. I'm way off of David now, but when he comes. What does that look like? I've had people say to me, oh, my hair was standing on end.

And they. Anybody know what I'm talking about? Look, anybody know what I'm talking about? I. I mean, you know, your hair singing. There's no scripture for that.

There is no. And when your hair stands on end, then the Holy Spirit is there. That's not in there. Yay. When the Spirit comes, thou shalt have goose pimples.

No, it doesn't say that. It does not say that. What? It does say that the man. The manifestation of the spirit.

And in first Corinthians, chapter 12. And then it lifts nine of the gifts of the Spirit. That's not even all of them. There's 20, 21, 22 different gifts of the Spirit. Spirit.

When the sun comes up, you feel warmth. When the Spirit manifests, there is signs and wonders and miracles. And I want to say this. You might not understand it all, but here's what you want to do. You want to look for fruit and you want to study to show yourself approved.

God wants to anoint you like he anointed David. Yes. You know one of the reasons people burn out? I don't know if you've. Have you read those statistics about pastors and leaders that burn out?

I've read some statistic. I mean, I can't remember it exactly, but you know that every five years, the average life of pastors, five years, and then they quit. We're long past that. And. And.

And you got 60 years over here. You got everybody beat. Thank you for serving the Lord. 60 years. How many years you been a ministry pastor?

20, 22, 16.

I'm like, almost at 30. Come on. Why don't we burn out? Why don't you burn out? Think about why you don't burn out.

Because the one who called us is faithful and his anointing carries. But if you get distorted into thinking that the anointing is for. For your own self ingratiation. Is that a word? Gratiated.

Need a cup of tea right about now. The anointing is for. Is for. Is for the Lord to use your life to do what he wants you to do. It's not so that you can Become wealthy with it.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. It might also include that never in anywhere in scripture are we exhorted to become famous, to become great. We are to be great in the Lord. I just preached it a couple Sundays ago is to hear, well done, good and faithful servant. So David is anointed to be the next king.

He has to wait a pearl a very long period of time. But he trusted that God was going to establish him. And when God establishes you, nobody can do anything about it. That's why he doesn't even, he doesn't even freak out when Absalom, he just leaves the city. Well, Lord, if you want Absalom to be the.

You want Absalom to be the next king and he leaves.

The Philistines heard about how they had anointed David. And the enemy has definitely heard about your new anointing too. So when you come up against a battle, change your view, change your perspective on the battle. Thought I was like StairMaster for a second. But change your perspective.

When you go through a battle, it could be that the devil's nervous. So let that encourage you that maybe you're along the right path. I mean, check yourself, check. See wisdom in a multitude of counsel, check the word prayer. But when you run into obstacles, it could be that the devil's nervous that you're about to take, you know, all of the nation.

And that's what the Philistines were like, we better stop this punk. We better stop him. And God gave, he inquired and God gave him another plan which is so profound.

Oh, I didn't talk about Heron. Hiram, king of Tyre, sends him some cedar. And it was to build to related another nation is like, I'm going to bless him. I know where God's moving, he's moving in David.

So David inquired of the Lord, verse 19 saying, shall I go up against the Philistines? He's asking. It's like a no brainer. Of course you do, right? No, you check with God.

God says you will deliver them into. Into. Will you deliver them into my hand. And the Lord said to David, are you all there with me? Verse 19b.

The Lord said to David, go up, for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into your hand. So David went to Beryl, peasant Bel Parazim. David defeated them there. And he said, the Lord has broken through my enemies before me like a breakthrough of war water. Therefore he called that name BAAL Perezim.

And there they left their images, their idols there. And David and his men carried Them away. It's this incredible picture. Verse 22. He has this.

He has a fight.

If you're in a battle tonight and you need God to strengthen you, you're going to inquire of God. You need God to help you check your heart. Where's. Where? Where's your heart at?

Are you bitter? Are you angry? Where? Where are you at? Are you in the battle because you did it?

Are you in the battle because the enemy doesn't like you? He definitely doesn't like you. He's going to try to stop you. He's tried to stop us on the regular. That's why I said you can write scriptures on the bottom of your shoes so he can read them.

You walk in a place. You fight from a place of victory. Say that I fight from a place of victory. You're not earning anything. Jesus already earned it.

You're just an enforcer. Come on, bump your neighbor and say, I'm an enforcer of the Lord God Almighty. You're an enforcer of his will. You're going to do his will. You're going to enforce his will.

And you're going to stand, having done all else. Continue to stand. And when you're done doing that, you stand some more. You don't turn heel. You don't turn and quit and go back.

God's not abandoned you. The promises of God are yes and amen. And you get in those things, they're like a tank. You don't move away like a howitzer. You mow down the opposition.

You live in the place of victory. You declare it. I don't really feel it. That's your problems. You're walking by feelings.

We walk by faith. Not by sight, not by hearing, not by. Not by our goosebumps. Goosebumps or not, God's with me. Come on, someone say God's with me.

And you keep moving forward. Faith is. Is what you do on the way to your hope. Faith is action in God's word. We don't have to have faith to have a building anymore that's long gone.

We're in it now. We have faith is being paid off. Can somebody say Amen? Amen.

You get something from the Lord. Lift your hands to Jesus. If you're in a battle tonight, stand up on your feet. You're like, dude, I'm in it. Thick loud.

Now, whether it's you, the enemy, somebody else, or the Lord's discipline, ask God to show you which one it is.

Ask God to show you. Well, I hope you were encouraged by God's. Word. Thank you again for listening to Kings Alaska Podcast. God bless you.
