Boldness in God | Studies in the Life of David | Pastor Daniel Bracken

God doesn’t look at the outside—He looks at the heart. This message reminds us that confidence comes from knowing who we are in Him, not from the approval of people.

Foreign.

Hi, this is Pastor Daniel Bracken. You're listening to Kings Alaska Podcast. I hope the Word encourages you and you get a touch from God that brings transformation and equips you to experience life with people, power and purpose. Thank you for joining us. Enjoy the Word.

The text of scripture that we're talking about here is we're going to 1st Samuel 18.

So we've. We've brought it to the place where Saul has been rejected. Everybody say he got rejected. Okay, he's been rejected, but he's still King. Samuel, the great prophet, shows up at Bethlehem.

And the leaders of Bethlehem, they say, is it. Well, because they're not sure if he's just going to smoke everybody. Maybe they're. Maybe their conscience was bugging them. I don't know.

Is it? Well, Samuel says, it's well, I've come to sacrifice that. The house of Jesse. He goes to the house of Jesse. Jesse pulls out his seven sons, but leaves Jess, leaves David in the field.

Seven's a picture of perfection. And in this case, it's a picture of the perfection of the flesh. And so Samuel sees Eliab, and it's interesting that he was just like Saul, head and shoulders above his big, strong, strapping lad, handsome, adding to it a little bit. And he says, surely this is the anointed. And what does God say?

No, it's not. It's the Bracken version. But he says, man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the. And so you begin to see in the Old Testament, it's certainly true in the New that God look. God looks at the heart.

I'm so thankful he took out the heart of stone and put in a heart of flesh. Aren't you grateful that he gave you a new heart? He gave you a new spirit. Aren't you glad he forgave you? Aren't you glad he washed you?

Aren't you glad he cleansed you? Can you say amen? So Saul's rejected because he sacrificed before the time he had no patience. Judgment comes on him. Powerful verse of Scripture where it says, a spirit of distress or a demon spirit came on Saul and David was anointed.

From that day on, David is chosen and anointed. He's a young man. I mean, he's young. You say, how young? We don't know for sure.

15, 14, 15, 16, not sure, not 100% sure. He's about 17 when he kills Goliath. And that's what we talked about last week. Now, can you imagine? Can you imagine?

I. I couldn't Help but think about you, Pastor Tim. I think in prayer for you all the time. You're a great man. But when I was looking at the life of David and thinking about how he was in the shepherd's fields, he was raised out there. I mean, he was with the sheep, he played the harp and he just.

Can you imagine going from the village straight to the city? Because that's what happened to him. You did that. That's culture shock. I mean, it's just like there's lights and you walk in the supermarket and there are all the colors and there's.

Everything's in a box. And it's like he goes from the shepherd's fields in one day. He goes to deliver cheese and bread. Pizza, goes to deliver pizza. Winds up.

It's a setup by God. He winds up basically becoming the champion. He just defeated Goliath and turned the course of the nation around with one rock. And there were everybody, everybody was there that was like, oh, you can't fight again. Saul said, he's, he's a, he's a warrior from his youth.

And you're only a youth. Do not despise your youth, says Timothy. Show it through your speech and your excellence of life. And so he says, I can do it. I killed the lion.

I killed the bear. I have a. I have a history. I have a. I have a history with God. He's with me. Let me kill the fat headed, uncircumcised Philistine.

Let me kill him. Try the armor. No, don't try the armor. He tries, it doesn't work. I can't use it.

I gotta use this. God will give you your own anointing. You don't look for somebody else. God will give you your own enablement. And the anointing is found before any Samuel comes and pours oil on you.

It's purchased in your secret life with God, in your daily walk with him. When you kill the lion of perversion in your own mind, when you kill the bear of greed in your own mind. And when you overcome the every obstacle and step over it and play your harp and sing to God, you'll get anointed. You'll be set on fire. God wants to set a whole generation of people on fire that love God with all their heart, with all their mind and soul and strength.

Don't care about the skinny jeans or the smoke or the large screens, but actually care about his power, his presence and serving him with all their heart. Can you say amen tonight? And so that was David and I Believe he's raising up a whole company of Davids and David Ettes or Davinas or whatever the female version would be.

And he drops Goliath. This is just a quick review and then we're going to go on to First Samuel 18. He kills him. Actually, the stone didn't kill him. When he lost his head, that pretty sure that killed him.

But he. Although there is a martyr that actually they. They took his head and he was able. He held his head and was able to speak and preach to everybody. So martyr, you can read it in Fox's Book of Martyrs.

How about that, guys? Guys running around. Serve the Lord. He's holding his head, he preaches the gospel. People are totally freaked out.

A lot of people got saved. And he did it for like an hour and then he died. How does it even work?

Somebody say, whoa, Fox's Book of Martyrs. I've said it before, but everybody should have that. So that when you just read it, you realize your persecution for being cut off, for having a Christian symbol on your back of your car or truck doesn't really matter.

Nobody's had that happen. Am I the only one that's been cut off?

David kills Goliath and he's an instant hero. He. He goes from being the shepherd boy who plays a couple music sets to this anointed leader and is basically brought from there to Gibbia. Gibbia is Washington D.C. 17. 17 years old.

Goes from being a little guy with a harp out in the field, comes in from the village, kills Goliath, saves a nation, becomes a national hero on one day. Come on. You've done some people that were famous in music at different ones. That instant pop star, you know, it doesn't work out so good for them. They don't know how to handle money.

They were getting pulled in all kinds of directions. They become. They become idolized and all that. That's David. But what's fascinating about him is that it doesn't go to his head, it seems.

I often wondered why that is. 1st Samuel 18, if you're all there, give a hallelujah. Let's stand and read a few verses.

Verse 1.

Now, when he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David. And Jonathan loved him as his own soul. Saul took him that day and he would not let him go home to his father's house anymore. Then Jonathan and David made a covenant because he loved him as his own soul. And Jonathan took off his robe that was on him and he gave it To David with his armor, even to his sword and his bow and his belt.

So David went out wherever Saul sent him and behaved wisely. Another version says he prospered, and Saul set him over men of war. And he was accepted in the sight of all the people and also in the sight of Saul's servants. Let's pray. Father, thank you.

Move in great power. In Jesus name, Amen. You may be seated.

One of the things that. That is very clear to me through these next two chapters, maybe three throughout David's life is he had a boldness. He's bold. So, I mean, like, think about this in the context of what he's saying. He's 17.

He goes to the White House. He's there. And what does Saul do? Saul puts him over a whole company of soldiers. Now, you got to understand that these guys are probably in the military for what, 10 years?

Has anybody had a young buck over you being an older person? I. I can't say I've always enjoyed that. I have been the young buck as well. Hopefully I did. I did well, served well.

But what's interesting in the text is that happens to David. He's a national hero. He comes. We're going to talk about Jonathan and this covenant friendship. But he.

He's. He's not despised. Why. Why doesn't Jonathan hate him? No, come on.

I don't think you guys are really tracking. Jonathan is the son of Saul. He's the son of Saul. He's the next heir to the throne. That is who Jonathan is.

Very influential young man, probably the most prosperous young man in the nation. He's definitely supposed to be the next king in lineage. And yet God doesn't choose Jonathan, not for any character issue. He just chooses that we know of, because we see Jonathan responding in a way that's absolutely magnificent. Go to.

Go to verse one again. We'll. We'll look at this, and I'm. I'm going to show you something. He finished speaking to Saul.

The soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David. There's something that happens in Jonathan where he's his. He turns. There's no competition, there's no jealousy.

He looks at him, he's like, oh, you're him. He's him. How did that happen? It's a work of the spirit, and I think it's the anointing, it's God's favor and enablement on somebody that opens up a way for them in ministry and life and business. And that's what happened to David.

You look at David, he's anointed three times. He's the only one that's anointed in Scripture publicly three times. And each anointing, there's a succession, a successive increase of God's power and administration and, and leadership. You see it grow. So he's anointed, he comes to Gibeah.

I call it the White House because I want you to see the importance of it. It's the capital city, it's where the king is. It's a big deal. And the prince sees David and instantly realizes, oh, you're the man. Why is that?

It's the anointing. It's God's power. You know, you should go where you're celebrated, not where you're tolerated. Everybody say that. Go where you're celebrated.

I mean, who likes hanging out with people that don't really like you? I don't. If you do, there's some sick part of you that needs to be healed. And of course, we minister to people that you know are broken and all of that. But it's fascinating.

You see this covenant relationship, covenant friendship. And that's what's developed here. His soul was knit together with David. People have used this for perverse purposes, to show that perversity is in scripture. It sure is.

But this is not an example of perversity. It's example of a covenant friendship. You know, we launched these men's groups today, and they're tomorrow too. Men's prayer call. We got whole stack of cards right here.

And you get one of these, in fact, ushers, while I'm preaching. Just, just pass these out to everybody. Why would you do that? Because something happens when Jonathan finds a David. When a David finds a Jonathan.

Something happens when you get covenant relationship. Gentlemen, this is not a men's meeting. This is an all inclusive meeting. Men and women, there's only two genders. It's very important that men have that kind of relationship.

And it's not queer and it's not weird. It's, it's, it's holy and it's amazing. I have a number of very close friends. I'm not sure if I'm the David or a Jonathan, but we're close, very close. And it's not about competing.

It's not about, it's about finishing the race and standing with each other. And this whole picture of him giving him his robe, it's just so powerful. And this event here with David, you see this favor, you see this boldness, you see this confidence. And it continues through chapter 19. It really continues through his life.

Where does he get the boldness? Where does he get the confidence at 17? Where does it come from? It does not come from an Anthony Robbins, you know, seminar.

When you become bold and you become confident in God, the implications on your mind are vast. The implications on your emotions are vast. When you become confident. My preach right now, when you start to find out and know who you are based upon God's word and you begin to believe that and you internalize it and you're not beating yourself up every day for. For whatever the.

The enemy might want to beat you up with, There's a confidence, there's a boldness, there's a righteous or as bold as a lion. When that happens, everything begins to change. It's an impact upon your thinking. You don't have nearly the stress level. I don't worry about anything nearly.

And I'm just saying there's. Sometimes I'm like, oh, Lord, Lord, Lord. And then it's time for a prayer meeting. How many of you know some of you what I'm talking about? And then I pray and I get confidence and I get victory.

If I get overtired, I get worn out and I start stretching or breaking certain rules that God has given me to live my life. And I'm. I find myself. The things get out of kilter a little bit. David had a confidence, and I think that's what Jonathan saw.

And that's really what all of the Gibeon staff. Can I say it that way? The staff of Gibeah, they all sought to. Because there's no strife. You read this, they're like, ooh, David, David, David, you're the man.

You're the man, David. If anybody can do it, David can. I mean, there's this. There's this incredible unity. Dude, he's like, what is he.

Is he 18? He's 19. Okay, maybe he's. Scholars go back and forth. It's like 19 to 21.

Okay, 21. He's 21. And he's leading the army as the king directs him. 21. They're.

They're professional soldiers. Why is that and why is it. Nobody mad. There's a confidence in him.

Come on, lift your hands to Jesus.

Hallelujah. God, give us confidence based on your word. Say that. God, give me confidence based on your word. I have this.

Let me finish this here. When you become bold in God, confident in God, it affects your mind, it affects your emotions, it affects your prayer life, it affects your relationships. It affects everything. My wife doesn't have to worry about some hidden, secret thing I got because I don't have any secrets. Brackens don't have secrets.

I'm a vault as far as counseling and meeting with people and all of that. Got lots of secrets that way. I personally have no secrets with this lady right here. She has my email. She.

She. We share an email. She has my phone. She can look at my phone anytime. It's a good.

It's a good test for your children that have phones. We had a little. We had a little flinch test. So we say, okay, let me see your phone. And if it was, how come?

That's it, you lost your phone? Because why would you even ask me, why come? How come? Or let me see your phone. I'm like, okay, Let me see your phone.

And do not touch it while you're. And. And if you said swipe, yeah, you lost your phone. Thank God those days are over. Pastor Karen, Come on.

Somebody say, praise the Lord.

When there's a confidence, people don't second guess you. Don't think that you're going to shank them. They don't worry about you coming after them or ripping them off or speaking evil of them. And there's a confidence in God. It changes your relationships.

It really does. And it changes your prayer life. In fact, I'm going to say this. If you're not confident in God, your prayer life is going to be weak. It's going to have problems because you'll vacillate not knowing what's God's will or not.

You'll go back and forth. Well, Lord, if it's your will, listen. You know what his will is because it's right here.

All right?

The enemy wants to keep you in fear. That is not who you see in David. He wasn't afraid of Goliath. He thought differently. He wasn't afraid of man.

But he seems to respond honorably. The enemy wants you to feel accused. He wants you to feel condemned. He wants you to be afraid. He wants you to be small.

He wants you to shut up. He wants you to be insignificant and go away. If you get a confidence in God, your leadership will change the way you lead your family, lead your children, the way you. The way you lead, you. You lead differently.

Good, bold, confident leaders lead differently. And again, He's. He's like 20 years old, 21 years old.

All right, let me give you some of this here. He's. He's in Gibeah now for. Until he's about 23, 18 to 23 years old. They say it is interesting.

I mentioned it. And then we're going to look at just some greater detail. This Jonathan David relationship. The Holy Spirit sets young David and old Saul side by side. And he does it on purpose.

The Holy Spirit does it on purpose. I mean, I can't help but read this and realize I'm. I'm not 18.

Pastor Grand's like, duh. I feel very young, but I realize I am not. All I can think about is grandchildren and the whole next generation. I want to see raised up. I think in terms of generations now.

I did not think in terms of generations 15 years ago. I just did. It's all over the scriptures, everywhere. Why is that? I'm maturing, but I'm.

I'm never going to let in the old man. And I would suggest you don't let in the old woman or the old man. There ain't no old man ever gonna get here. He ain't coming. He.

I'm letting him in, You know. Did you know that, Pastor Karen? I gotta tell this story I told. I think I told it to a bunch of people. It's so funny to me, there's.

It's a perfect example of confidence. She says, honey, Amazon's coming. They're bringing my jump ropes.

Jump ropes. She says, oh, yeah. I'm like, how come you're getting jump ropes? Look, I've known girlfriend since 1995, okay? There's never been a jump rope ever.

I haven't heard about a jump rope. I've never seen her jump rope. I don't know anything about her jumping rope. So she's like, oh, yeah, they're coming. I'm like, what are you doing?

She goes like, well, if you jump rope, you can strengthen your bone density and it's very good for you. In fact, you should keep jumping on into your. To your latter years. I thought, that's great. What is going on?

So I. To some other churchy stuff. Eventually, Amazon comes and she comes downstairs and she rips into her. She rips into her. Her jump ropes.

I'm like, I. I think it's hysterical because I'm like, let me see that. Please do it.

And she gets a rope out and she kind of stretches it, tries to adjust a little bit. And then it was like.

I mean, like, she's like. She starts jumping rope and I'm thinking, what has happened? Funny.

You should go get the rope and do it for everybody right now.

But I could tell with one, she had it. She stretched it one time around and catches it and I thought she has jumped rope before. There was a confidence that she had. She's a black belt in taekwondo, and I guess she jumped a bunch of rope during that. Said, don't mess with Pastor Karen, as I have learned.

Talking about confidence, talking about a boldness.

All right.

As David goes through this period of his life, he's greatly celebrated by Jonathan. His. His robe and all of that, they all have really great meaning.

Saul was knit to the soul of David.

Pardon me. Jonathan was knit to the soul of David. Jonathan loved David at his own soul. It's this picture of.

Of belonging and identity and literally giving. Everything that I have, I'm going to give to you. I am with you. And you can take the whole robe and look at. What you want to do when you see images in scripture is you want to look through scripture and you can find lots of meanings for robes, robes of righteousness in the.

Of revelation. Robe, robe and a ring. The picture of the. The prodigal son come home. There's a lot of beautiful pictures of robe.

He gives him his robe. It's a picture of like, I know I'm the prince, but I know you're. I know you're him. I know you're the next king. It's this incredible.

When you have friendships and partnerships with people that want you to win, that changes life. And it. It didn't work out so good for Jonathan because his dad was Saul. And David goes into this time of incredible celebration. All the.

All the women are like David, David. David killed his 10,000, but Saul only killed a thousand. All the. All the maidens, they're crazy about David. And all the.

All the people of Israel, they love David. Right? Saul hates him. Isn't that a beautiful picture of life? That is how it is.

You're gonna have people that love you, and you're gonna have people that don't like you. Do not yield to the people that don't like you. It does not matter. You live for the approval of the one Him. God.

Live for him. He'll make even your enemies be a piece of you. Don't you just do the right thing and let everybody else stick it, whatever that means. If people don't like it, it doesn't matter. Do the right thing.

Do the right thing. And that's what David does at this time in his life. And he's got great favor. And I'll say this to you. Oh, this is good right here.

If people's. Oh, please listen off the notes can help you. If people's criticism of you tips over your canoe if you're bent. I mean, it really affects you. People's criticism of you.

You need healing. Let me run that through one more time. The way you respond to criticism and the way you respond to praise reveals something in you. If someone's great praise and adoration of you puffs you up and gets you to think that you're big, you've also lost it. You need to.

We need to understand who we are in God. And you'll have people that don't like you, people that celebrate you, like Jonathan. And they're like, let's go. Let's do it. I love that.

I love the army. I love the unity. I love the we're gonna get it done. Devil picked on the wrong family. Were together.

The whole picture of the armor of Ephesians is that which is displayed in the Roman army. In the Romans. The key of the Roman army is their work together. Their swords interlocked. They work together.

They served together elbow to elbow, shoulder to shoulder for a lifetime. And so I knew when. Here, you two. Two handsome fellows. Come here.

Here, you stand next here. Come right here. So they knew. If I'm holding a shield and you're holding it. Get your shields up, boys.

They knew. Left arm dark. They knew if my arrow. They knew how strong I was. We had worked together.

They knew maybe I had a little bit of an Achilles thing or a knee thing. If I started. Somebody they could step over and protect or we could. We could defend each other and work together. And our shields interlocked.

The beauty. Thank you. The beauty of the. Of the weaponry of the New Testament believer. It's a picture of your faith working together.

Shield of faith. Sword of the spirit. Helmet of salvation. Breastplate of righteousness. He.

He's. It's like he's looking at a Roman soldier and he's giving this picture of how the. How the how to win. But to understand Roman strategy, it wasn't because they had one strapping guy. It was a team.

And I'll just tell you, you need a Jonathan ladies, you need a Jeanette. Whatever. We need Covenant relationship. And there'll be people that like you and people that don't like you. And if you allow criticism to really get you down, man, I got so criticized this week, I've had one thing after the next, and I'm just thinking, let's go.

I'll eat dirt if I need to repent. Happy. My. My. My approval is not based on likers.

My appro. If you don't like me I'm sorry. I do the best I can. Try to live like them. Maybe you find another church.

Hello? Did I say that? Pastor Karen's not here. You can tell things get more edgy when she. Oh, And there's lots of different pastors and ministers here.

And it's the beauty of being able to. There's different. Different shepherds for different sheep. The beauty is we have many, many shepherds. And you can connect and grow.

Every single person needs a shepherd. Every single person needs a pastor. But I don't get my. I don't get my confidence from someone liking me. I like that Pastor Karen's opinion of me matters a lot.

My kids opinion of me matters a lot. It matters. I care what you think. Amen. But by and large, I don't care about what a crowd might think as long as I'm doing what God told me to do.

And there's a. You have to walk. And there's times you're moving forward, and you'll be like, you know, why did you do that? And you'd be like, oh, shoot, I blew it. Forgive me.

And you repent. And then you move forward. But then there's other times. People just want to shoot at you because you're just the. The shiny target right there.

And they just want to throw stuff at you. Don't. Don't let it get you down. The way you respond to criticism and the way you respond to praise really indicate what's on the inside of you. And David, he didn't seem to change all the maidens and everybody.

And then Saul wants to kill him. He's got both. Very unusual set of circumstances. In fact, I love what a friend of mine said, and I don't quote him too often because he backslidden, but he says it's the seminary of Saul. The seminary of Saul is a beautiful place to be.

You wouldn't want to register for it in the natural. But man, it works on you and molds you and makes you. And David was a man after God's own heart. And the truth is, as he goes to the White House, he goes to Gibeah. Can you imagine if he didn't have Jonathan?

Jonathan saved his life. Jonathan stood with him. It's this amazing picture of covenant friendship.

You need that. I have it. And I'm developing more. Do you have relationships like that?

Come on, lift your hands to Jesus.

Robe gives him the robe. A picture of authority. It's a picture of being the heir. It's a picture of being a son.

I know who you are. He's saying, I know you're the one. I know you're the next king. The armor is a picture of committing to fight with him and that he would fight and stick with him over and over and over, no matter what. Isn't it great to have people like that?

You know, I've been in covenant with people. I thought I was in covenant on my half, but then they just bailed, and there's nothing you can do about that. How many of you had experiences where you. You thought you could walk with somebody your whole life and they're gone now? They.

They chose the way of Cain. They go, what do you do? You pray. You pray for them and you forgive them and you move on. Next, you got to have a thick.

You got to have thick skin in God, and you got to have a thin. A thin skin also. You have to have a tender heart towards the Lord, but you have to have a thick heart towards the Saul. And the way you respond to the praise and the way you respond to the criticism really, really shows you actually what your identity is really in. See if somebody can get you so bent that you leave the church.

Well, you might not have been here for God to begin with. No. There's unhealthy leadership that should be run from. Clearly. Clearly.

But if something happens and you don't get acknowledged or there's just an oversight or whatever, and it just breaks bridges, breaks it for you. Well, like, what were you here for to begin with? I've been. How do you. How can you talk like that?

Because I was that guy. I remember looking for the acceptance from Dr. Morocco so hard it was almost torture. And he asked me to preach. I've told the story a dozen times, at least. Asked me to preach at a men's meeting.

I fasted and prayed, and God gave me a message on Yachin and Boaz, the two columns outside of the temple. Oh, he gave me this word. So I preached that thing. And I. I really felt like. It was one of the first times I felt like God just came and put me on.

Dr. Morocco's writing so fast, with smoke rising from his tablet, he's taking notes. I remember I'm in, like, full preach. I look as he. Like, in my mind, he's taking notes, and I'm like, the Lord says, you know, I just kept going, trying to dismiss that little thought of the flesh.

And after we finished, I thought, my God, I'm going to be the next assistant pastor. No, I really. I thought, I've hit the ball. Oh, I go into his office and I knock on the door. He opened.

He. I opened the door, and he looks at me from his desk.

He don't even say, can I help you? He just says. I said, oh, hi, Dr. Morocco. I just wanted to stop by and Amen. You know, I'm looking for him to say, OMG, you.

I've prayed for you for 35 years. Wait, let me come in and give you my crown.

So he doesn't. He just looks up at me and says, praise God. Is that it? You need anything? I'm like, no.

Okay. Can you shut the door? Thanks. I shut the door. He's probably trying to find millions of dollars, and I'm hoping to get a pat on the back.

I walk away, and I instantly sink into. Into rejection. And as I sink into this rejection and feeling totally rejected by my pastor, the Lord speaks really clear and says, son, I'm like, yeah. Did you preach what I told you to preach? I did.

Then just look for my acceptance and look for my encouragement. Look for. Look for my reward. And he said, good job. You did good.

I'm like, okay. And I don't know, something broke off of me from that day. David. David was used to being rejected by his brothers, by his dad left in the field, but God chose him. You know what?

God will step over seemingly qualified people and pick somebody whose heart is right for him. He'll pick somebody who's. Who's playing the harp and singing in the midst of rejection by their family, rejection by their. Their brothers, maybe out of an illicit relationship, maybe he wasn't wanted. I don't know.

I. I don't know. But I know that God steps over that and he'll pick somebody. He'll just fall in love with him and love him with all his heart, with all his mind, with all his soul, and all his strength. Let the haters hate. And don't worry about it, because God's crazy about you.

As you obey his word, he's going to elevate you. He's going to raise you up. He's going to put fresh oil on you. He's going to anoint you above your brethren. And I'm going to tell you something.

It's a beautiful thing when he does that. It just is. But don't let it go to your head, because in one moment, he could just humble you too.

David learned to live in the midst of a Saul, of a seminary, of Saul, and in the midst of tremendous love. It's like it says, israel loved David. And one of the keys was having a Jonathan. I'm so thankful for close relationships that I have with other men of God.

I have keys. Please lift your hands to Jesus. Some of you don't have close relationships because you're not healed. So you don't let the guard down. And you constantly have to put on a front, constantly have to prop yourself up so that they think more highly of you, perhaps, than they ought or.

I know what it is to have a spirit of rejection. It's miserable and feel alone in the middle of a crowd. God wants to heal you that tonight. And, you know, no one can give you a Jonathan except the Lord, but you have to position yourself to get them. If you stay at home isolated all your life, you're never going to have a Jonathan or a Jeanette or whatever male, female version of that is, and you need it.

I have that with my wife. I have that with my son to some degree.

My son bears a burden with me for the church and for many things. But there's certain things that are, you know, above his pay grade, so to speak. He doesn't hear the intimate, you know, maybe challenge that. I might be walking through that. That I am.

But there are challenges in marriage. I don't talk with my kids about that, but I do have people that I will talk to, especially the Lord and my wife. We just don't have any secrets. And if we get stuck, I've got others. I get.

I get help. I'll get some marriage counseling. I'll get healed. I'll get. I'll pray.

I'll pray through. What are you saying? I'm saying you've got to develop these kinds of relationships. But it's all this victory. Yes, I killed Goliath.

Oh, I'm now leading raiding parties for the king. And the king hates his guts, but the whole nation loves him. And this dichotomy of the two. And then God put Jonathan there to support him and to stand with him. Can you imagine how difficult it would have been?

David had favor with Saul's house. Except for with Saul.

I encourage you to build relationships that are honest and integrous and transparent. Used to be a whole accountability thing. Oh, we need accountability. And. And.

I don't know. It. It got weird years ago. Not here, but. I mean, it's just in other places.

I heard stories. Well, he's my accountability partner. It's my colleague. He's my. He's my AP accountability partner.

Oh, he's your AP. And he's. We're APs. You know, AP, I've had people come and say, will you mentor me? Yes, sure.

Come to morning prayer, go through leadership, come to church, serve, get in a life group and that. And you're going to find yourself getting mentored. And as that happens, there's a natural elevation that comes as you seek God and God will elevate you and raise you up. That is mentoring. It's into a way of life.

David didn't let the criticism and he didn't let the praise. It didn't seem to affect him, I think because he knew who he was. He didn't forget the village. He remembered where God found him. All with the sheep.

Father, thank you. I pray for those who struggle with rejection tonight. I pray for those who are perplexed, those who are in fear. Baby David had this boldness, he had this confidence. He was assured of his.

Of your love for him.

I pray for those who need to be set free from the fear of man.

They would not live for the applause or the accolades, would not live for the ring or for the robe. They would live for you above all else. And in that you will fulfill destiny and purpose. The reason that you've called us, the reason that you chose us, everyone has a every single person, God has a plan for you. Every single one, under the sound of my voice.

No matter who you are, whether you understand English, you're from the eldest to the very youngest, and it maybe not understand what I'm saying. God has a plan. The biblical truth is that God has a plan for you. He has a purpose for you. And if you'll lead him, if you'll serve him, if you'll love him, if you'll follow him, he'll bring it to you fruition.

He'll bring it to pass. It shall come to pass. Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and he adds all things. And I think that's what David was doing. Now he gets messed up later, but that's later on.

He got it right, right here.

Would you stand with me?

Lift your hands to Jesus and just worship him all across the place. I didn't preach long to you.

Studies in the life of David. Who's your Jonathan? Who are you being in David to? I love what Dr. Morocco said. As I got further along in ministry, he said, daniel, I pray your ministry exceeds mine.

Go ahead and do more than I've ever done. Go for it. And I could tell, like he meant it. I thought, oh, yeah, let's go. When there's competition and someone trying to hold you down or someone Trying to cut you off.

That's someone you want to get away from. I pray each and every one of you, your ministry your would flourish far more than anything I've ever done. That's the whole point. Release people into destiny, man. It's the whole point.

Release people into purpose. Purpose. It's the whole point when it should all be a Jonathan to each other and. And David's to each other. Except for the issue with Bathsheba.

If you need to be set free from the fear of man, you just need to be healed, maybe from rejection. Let me say it generally this way. If this word spoke to you in any way and you feel God's spirit on you, I want you to respond and come to the front.

He's raising up a company of David's. He is always raising up the Jonathan's too. And he's teaching you in the midst of the seminary of Saul. He is. He's teaching you.

I know it's not fun, somebody trying to pin you to a wall with a javelin. We're gonna see. He's crazy. Saul was crazy. You thought your employer was bad.

He was really bad. Bad. Mean. Got some.

Do the best you can. Lift your hands to Jesus.
