I. Introduction

A. The Kingdom of God’s power was expressed through the ministry of Jesus.

B. The Kingdom of God continued to be expressed through the early church, through the name of Jesus, and through the power of the Holy Spirit.

II. A look at the text

A. I Corinthians 2:4

1. The Apostle Paul defends himself against a segment in the church that sees man’s wisdom and rhetoric as important.

2. The Apostle Paul defines his ministry as based on the “demonstration of the Spirit’s power.”

B. I Corinthians 4:18-20

1. Here, Paul’s opponents are arrogant and are talking against the Apostle Paul.

2. When he comes, he will find out what power they have.

3. The Kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.

III. Keys to the supernatural.

A. There should not be a separation between the preaching of God’s word and signs and wonders.

1. Faith in Jesus the King releases the kingdom’s power.

2. Prayer creates the atmosphere for miracles. Vs 13

3. Be obedient so that God’s power has freedom to flow through us. Vs 15

4. Know and be filled with the Holy Spirit. Vs 16

B. Contend for signs and wonders.

C. Be open to let God use you.

D. Keep in mind the purpose for miracles is that Jesus be glorified.
