I Thessalonians 1:1-9

I. Introduction

    1. Everybody say “breakthrough”.
    2.  What _____________ comes to your mind?
    3. For me personally, breakthrough is when I am able to fulfill God’s ___________ for me and my family

II. A look at the text.

       A. To understand the breakthrough that happened in Thessalonica

 we need to look at Acts 16 & 17.

        1. Paul and Silas have been ________ throughout Phrygia and Galatia preaching.
        2. They are in Troas being prevented by the _________ from preaching the gospel in Asia Minor and Bithynia when in a vision God directs them to go to ____________.
        3. They start by going to the leading city in that province, the city of ________, and there establish a church, but in the process _______ horribly.
        4. From there they go to Thessalonica and preach in the Jewish synagogue for three sabbaths with the result of some Jews becoming followers of Jesus and a large number of _________ and leading ________ in the city becoming followers as well.
        5. The non-believing Jews hired thugs to start a__________ which ultimately led to Paul and Silas having to _____________ and leave the city at night.
        6. From reading Acts it seemed as though Paul and Silas attempt at starting a church in Thessalonica may have been a failure, but when one reads Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians we see it was not a ___________ at all but a ____________.
